I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Still More Theater Saturday - Retrospective

We received complimentary tickets to Retrospective for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Retrospective

Where: AMT Theater
             354 W. 45th St.
             New York, NY

When: This event concluded on August 16, 2025

In Retrospective, Rory, an artist, suddenly finds himself in a room full of empty paintings accompanied by his late ex-wife. This is a show about the ties that bind us in not-so-good ways, even after death.  It is also about letting go of those ties and moving on. While this is a fascinating premise,  the execution of this idea is rather disappointing, as the show itself is mostly boring and repetitive. The plot mostly consists of a constant rehashing of the same ideas. It seems as stuck as its main character. The main character is also not as interesting or dynamic as the side characters, particularly his quirky whirlwind of an ex-wife, Pippa, and his fellow painter, Clint. Either would make a much more interesting main character for a show.

And that's our view. Restrospective was part of the Broadway Bound Festival, which concluded on August 17.

Tune in tomorrow for this week's Sunday Scoop.
