The current exhibit at the Museum at FIT, All That Glitters focuses on fashions that glitter, shine, and otherwise catch the light. It examines the evolution of such materials and not only how they are or were used in fashion but in more nefarious ways as well. It talks about who could afford such materials what kind of status it gave them, the effect of these materials and their care on the environment, and more. There is even a portion of the exhibit where visitors can touch samples of different glittery materials. Whether you just want to enjoy looking at sparkly clothes and other items or you are interested in the history behind these types of items, you will enjoy this fascinating exhibit which was put together through a collaboration between the museum and graduate students from FIT.
