Although Platinum Dreams is a musical with a plot, what there is of it is very thin and not very interesting. It revolves around Lila Halliday, a former star of movie musicals trying to make a comeback with a solo album. She is played by Stevie Holland, an actress known for her singing, particularly in connection with her performances in the one-woman musical about the wife of Cole Porter, Love Linda. However, her voice sounds much better in some numbers in this show than in others.
Ms. Holland is joined by Connor Ryan in the role of Dan Hardin. Hardin is a rocker trying to stay relevant. Ryan has the bad boy rockstar vibes down pat although the character isn't very likeable. His fling with Lila doesn't seem believable. For one thing, they lack chemistry. However, Dan provides one of the show's highlights in an amusing segment where he quickly cycles through different songs trying to cater to current musical tastes.
The show's third and final character is Jaime Stiles, a recorder producer/studio owner, and Dan's former partner. Played by Jovan E'Sean with a kind of earnestness, he is the most likable member of the trio. Unfortunately, it feels like his character gets the least attention.

The show's full of a variety of songs in different styles. Some are more enjoyable than others. However, the songs are mostly not very memorable. Nothing about this show really stands out. It feels like it's missing something.
