10) Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe
A fanciful Victorian tale with a heady mix of drama and comedy, Iolanthe or The Peer and the Peri, explores whether a man who is half a fairy can find happiness in a world where to marry a mortal is a capital crime. Despite its completely whimsical premise involving fairies and fairyland, Iolanthe's topsy-turvy plot is a commentary on human nature, human foibles and political institutions that are all too familiar in any age. Sullivan's brilliant score, with echoes of Mendelsohn and other classics, is also appropriately evergreen.

Three qualifying rounds; three fabulous performances; three winning contestants — and that’s when the game show action really heats up.
In the first of two saucy elimination rounds, these brave souls will compete in games of skill, trivia, and utter shamelessness for a coveted spot in the finals (plus wholly inappropriate prizes). Then: more fabulous performances, more contestants, and another elimination round before the Grand Finale, where our finalists have to decide for themselves whether to… SYNC or STRIP! One thing’s for sure: the player with the least inhibitions is the most likely to win!
The rotating cast of SYNC or STRIP! includes: Abby Fantastic, Agent Wednesday, Miss Aurora BoobRealis, Boo Bess, Brooklyn Knightly, Broody Valentino, Cashlee Banks, Cheeky Lane, Miss Frankie Eleanor, ILOV Grate, Little Miss Lixx, Mia the MVP, Peekaboo Pointe, Poison Ivory, Queenceañera, Queerly Femmetastic, Rain Supreme, Rocka the Mechanic, Stella Nova, Susie Dahl and the Queens of Lips.

Philadelphia Zoo will be in full bloom this spring as America's first Zoo aims to reimagine and pay homage to its famous gardens and horticulture displays that date back to the gates opening in 1874. Philadelphia Zoo is proud to announce a new partnership with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) to refresh, revitalize and reimagine its 42-acre gardens. This collaboration will start by recreating four garden areas in highly visible locations to showcase the power of horticulture to create joy and inspire action to protect habitats. The garden beds, blueprinted by PHS designer and procurement manager Sam Keitch, will be filled with plants of different textures, colors and scents that will be unique to each garden to enhance the guest experience. Next, Philadelphia Zoo announces the April debut of "ZOOtopiaries: Nature's Sculptures" designed and fabricated by Santoline Mosaiculture. These new towering, three dimensional mosaic topiaries will be spread out throughout the campus and feature whimsical figures that highlight the interconnection of art, plants and animals. Each living art piece is skillfully designed in meticulous patterns, creating the likeness of a giant giraffe, stunning butterflies, preening peacock, slow-moving snail and more. The new ZOOtopiaries and garden beds in partnership with PHS will join the already opened East Coast premiere of Wildlife Rescue by Little Ray’s Exhibitions that currently has 13 animal statues spread throughout the campus to share stories about wildlife conservation. All three exhibits and enhancements will be included with admission and memberships, with no additional fee required to enjoy them. Watch for more information for the launch date for ZOOtopiaries and the PHS gardens by visiting philadelphiazoo dot org/attractions/ and following Philadelphia Zoo on social media platforms.
PHS PARTNERSHIP
Work is currently underway to launch the first step in reimagining the Zoo's garden beds with help from Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS). Fresh off the massive success of the Philadelphia Flower Show, PHS is now working with Philadelphia Zoo on the garden that is visible in front of the Zoo’s Elephant and Calf statue near the Zoo’s main entrance. This garden bed will feature bright and colorful pollinator plants like prairie coneflower and butterfly weed meant to attract and be a food source for bees, butterflies and birds.
Guests will also find a series of more than 18 large planters next to a brand new surprise exhibit that will have the Zoo's feathered fans lining up at rope drop. Look for these new installations to debut in time for Flamingo Cove - opening in late spring. The planters will be part of a new shaded space providing guests the chance to relax and recharge. The planters will feature small flowering or evergreen trees surrounded by plants like Plectranthus ‘mona lavender’, hydrangea, and begonia.
In the fall, guests will be able to enjoy the two other reimagined garden areas of the Zoo. As guests enter, they’ll see new beds featuring a carefully selected mix of sun and shade species, with a strong emphasis on native plants that enhance ecological diversity while maintaining visual appeal. As children take a ride in the PZ SEPTA Express Train next to Backyard Kitchen, they’ll be riding past beautiful fall blooms that have been carefully selected to create a multi-season garden for all to enjoy. Parents can relax nearby with a snack and a beverage.
When finished, the PHS partnership for the Zoo gardens will include 8,150 square feet of planting, feature 78 plant species.
ZOOTOPIARIES LIVING ART SCULPTURES
Additionally, Philadelphia Zoo will aim to bring a new living art exhibit that will surprise and delight animal lovers, green thumbs and everyone in between.
When finished, ZOOtopiaries will include five animal scenes and 22 plant species, with the tallest mosaic topiary being the 21 foot tall giraffe weighing 9,400 lbs.

Opera Theatre of Saint Louis: This House by Ricky Ian Gordon, Lynn Nottage, and Ruby Aiyo Gerber April 6, 2025 at 7pm |
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents Opera Theatre of Saint Louis: This House by Ricky Ian Gordon, Lynn Nottage, and Ruby Aiyo Gerber, on April 6, 2025 at the Peter B. Lewis Theater, 1071 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10128 at 7pm. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased at https://www.worksandprocess.
See excerpts of the new opera This House—by composer Ricky Ian Gordon, with a libretto by Pulitzer Prize–winner Lynn Nottage and her daughter Ruby Aiyo Gerber—prior to the world premiere at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in May and June 2025. Gordon, Nottage, and Gerber will participate in a moderated discussion and excerpts will be performed by artists including two originating cast members: mezzo-soprano Briana Hunter and baritone Christian Pursell.
A house is more than four walls and a roof; it is a keeper of memories and a witness to legacy. In This House, Zoe Walker returns home after many years away, to the Harlem brownstone her family has lived in since the 1920s. There, she asks her mother, Ida, and her brother, Lindon, to let her renovate the dilapidated building—but Ida and Lindon cannot let go of the past. The house is their whole world, and every room is full of ghostly voices and painful memories. As hidden truths about the family’s legacy come to light, Zoe begins to realize that the secrets harbored within these walls are deeper and more profound than she ever dared to imagine.
