I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

More Theater Monday - Avalona:A Musical Legend

We received complimentary tickets to Avalona: A Musical Legend for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Avalona: A Musical Legend

Where: Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew
             263 W. 86th St.
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Through March 29, 2025

Avalona: A Musical Legend is an immersive musical. The story literally happens all around you. At some point a character in the show may even reach out and touch your hand so if you don't like that, don't sit in the front row.

The show is the story of an epic quest. Vocally and visually it is beautiful. The story is mostly told through song, and the voices are lovely. The lighting and projection are quite effective as well. The choreography is great too.

However, while the soaring songs are pretty to listen to, they don't really explain what is happening from moment to moment. Thus, the lack of dialogue makes it hard to follow the story.

If just the idea of a story involving a legend or epic quest excites you, and you don't really care about the story itself, you will likely enjoy this show. Otherwise, maybe not.

And that's our view. For more about Avalona: A Musical Legend or to purchase tickets, go to https://www.avalonaimmersive.com.
