I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where: Museum of the City of New York
             1220 5th Ave.
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Through September 18, 2023

Me - The Food in New York exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York was interesting. The exhibit covered everything about the growing, manufacturing, sale, and consumption of food in New York City throughout history.

There was a giant biosphere. There was a Piragua cart which reminded me of In the Heights. There were also lots of pictures and more.

A part of the exhibit was devoted to sustainable food. There was a display of fake meats. They looked gross, but I don't really like meat in general.

Like most people, I don't usually think about where my food comes from and how it gets to me. An exhibit like this makes you think more about it.

Mom - Food in New York is a comprehensive exhibit related to everything to do with food in New York City. It is not just about eating. It's about who is making the food, who is serving the food,  and what is being eaten. It is also about trying to make sure everyone gets food and everyone has enough food because unfortunately, we know that this is not also the case.

It is also about changing the way we eat, what we eat, and how we obtain food. It is about how to make the process of making food as well as the food we eat itself both more sustainable and more healthy. Related displays include one regarding cooking eggs by solar heat using a satellite dish and one regarding substitute meat.

Although the exhibit is not very large compared to other exhibits in the museum, it is very informative. It really makes you think about what you eat and where it comes from.

And that's our view. For more about the Food in New York exhibit visit www.mcny.org/exhibition/food-new-york. For more about other current exhibits at the Museum of the City of New York or to purchase timed tickets to visit the museum, go to www.mcny.org
