I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Real Deal: Field Notes From the Life of a Working Photographer & Misc. : Vidl Stainless Steel Water Bottle

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any products, and/or visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Real Deal

Today we are recommending The Real Deal: Field Notes From the Life of a Working Photographer by Joe McNally. This book is part memoir, part instruction manual, and part work of art. Even though it is quite big, it is divided into many smaller easy-to-digest sections, and it is full of numerous beautiful examples of McNally's photographs as well. Accordingly, it is not as onerous a task to get through as it may first appear.  If you are not that into photography or familiar with the various terms, types of equipment, etc., there may be times that your eye glaze over when the book gets too technical. However, for the most part, it is an extremely fascinating look at the life of a freelance photographer and how the profession has changed over the years due not only to rapidly advancing technology but also to the way the world has changed. Whether you are really interested in learning about McNally's journey as a professional freelance photographer, you are interested in getting tips about photography from a professional photographer, or you just want to look at an abundance of amazing photographs or some combination of the three, this book is definitely worth a look.

Misc.:Vidl Stainless Steel Water Bottle

Today we are recommending Vidl Stainless Steel Water Bottles.  While there are plenty of water bottles out there, this one has something extra - a hidden compartment where you can store a snack, something to mix with your water, treats for your dog or whatever you want. The compartment attaches to the bottom of the bottle and easily comes off (or goes back on) with a few twists of the wrist. That is also how easily the lid of the bottle comes off when you want to fill or clean it. Yet as easy as it easy to remove the lid or the detachable compartment, they tighten securely enough that you don't feel like they are going to come off suddently when you don't want them to.

Vidl Stainless Steel Water Bottles are easy to clean, easy to store, and they come with an ergonomic handle that makes them especially easy to carry. They have a built-in straw that pops up at the touch of a button but stay securely in place when folded down so that you don't have to worry about losing straws or leakage.

These bottles are visually appealing as well. They come in a variety of colors. There are 4 different bottle colors, and 14 different base colors. All bottles and bases are interchangeable making for 56 possible color combinations! You can also have your bottle personalized with your name, logo and/or an inspirational message.

When you choose a Vidl Stainless Steel Water Bottle, you're not only getting a great water bottle, you're doing a good deed. Vidl's has partnered with Thirsty Child, an organization dedicated to ending the global water crisis. For every 50 bottles sold enough money is raised to supply a family in Honduras with a clean drinking water system.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
