NEW GIANT SCREEN FILM SERENGETI OPENING JANUARY 9
Opening on January 9 at the Museum, Serengeti invites audiences to explore one of the world’s greatest migrations on the giant screen. Home to many of the African continent’s iconic animals, the vast plains of the Serengeti are an incredible and dynamic ecosystem. The film follows a spectacular natural event as over one million wildebeest travel across the Serengeti, followed by an array of other species. See it on the Museum’s 40-foot-high, 66-foot-wide screen in the LeFrak Theater. Tickets are currently available on the Museum’s website.

4) BRONX CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
WITH NEW HOURS STARTING JANUARY 2023
First-Ever Children’s Museum In The Bronx…
A Destination for All New Yorkers!
The brand-new Bronx Children’s Museum is a 13,650-square-foot permanent space in the South Bronx, featuring site-specific art installations and interactive exhibits where families can play, learn and connect to the Bronx - its natural and cultural resources - through dramatic role-play, art, and scientific exploration. Geared for kids from infancy to fourth grade, exhibit highlights include The Waterways, a 35-foot long water table where children can launch boats, splash and play with locks and bridges while learning about local waterways such as the Bronx River, Harlem River and Orchard Beach. In The Woods exhibit, children can discover a variety of animals, plants, and other natural features of the Bronx through a microscope, observe live animals in their enclosures, create nature patterns, or build a kid-sized beaver lodge. A whimsical casita, bodega, community garden, farm stand and surrounding streetscape give children a chance to explore The Block, a miniature replica of a local neighborhood. Families and caregivers will delight in The Nest, a soft area museum space, where little ones, ages 0-3, are encouraged to develop their fine and gross motor skills through crawling, pulling up, and sorting objects. Sonia’s Corner, named in honor of both Justice Sonia Sotomayor and fellow Bronx native, actor and writer Sonia Manzano, has an array of children’s books and family-friendly resources.

The Story Pirates Book Club will launch in January 2023 with their inaugural selection: Mr. Lemoncello’s Very First Game by New York Times bestselling author Chris Grabenstein.
Following the success of the Story Pirates Creator Camp, a virtual summer program that debuted in Summer 2020, Story Pirates and Random House Children’s Books will partner once again on the first-ever Story Pirates Book Club. Launching in January 2023, the monthly book club will introduce kids and families to the best new books from a host of award-winning authors, including familiar and beloved New York Times bestsellers like Chris Grabenstein (Mr. Lemoncello’s Library) and Mary Pope Osborne (Magic Tree House), in addition to exciting middle-grade debuts like H. D. Hunter (Futureland: Battle for the Park) and Misa Sugiura (Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind). Book selections will span a variety of genres and feature stories that will interest and entertain young readers.
Included with Book Club registration is a copy of the featured title and access to two exclusive livestreams, held on Saturdays at 1–2 pm ET/10–11 am PT, where members can connect with fellow readers from across the country. The first event, which will be led by professional Story Pirates teaching artists and performers, will feature interactive activities and games inspired by the book of the month. The second event will be an exclusive class and Q&A with the author—a chance for Book Club members to engage directly with the writers, learn about their creative processes, and ask questions about their books. At the end of each month, participants will also be able to submit a book review with the chance to have it featured on the Story Pirates’ website and social media.

TADA! school break camp brings young people together to enjoy the magic of musical theater. Through improvisation and creativity, imagination soars as campers laugh, dance, sing and make connections with new friends. The perfect blend of musical theater training, storytelling and lively theater games keep their young minds engaged, active and having a blast during school breaks.
Every week, children enjoy musical theater training; create, rehearse and perform an original mini-musical; explore their interests and identity; share their voices and be heard, and receive individualized attention and solo opportunities. Professional New York City Teaching Artists lead ensemble-based instruction.
Weekly show titles inspire young people to create their own mini-musicals as an ensemble. Themes include: It’s a MEOW-sical! I can’t—I have rehearsal! Pirates & Princesses! No autographs, please! Dramatic Dinosaurs! and So apparently, I’m dramatic! On the last day of class, friends and family are invited to attend the premiere of the campers’ original mini-musical.
No child will be turned away because of their inability to pay. Financial assistance and full-tuition sponsorships are available. For more information, please visit Financial Assistance.
