I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Why is the Government in My Soup

Join Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, former Fox News Senior Judicial Analyst, as he shares his thoughts – and opinions – on various topics including former President Trump and his crimes, Kanye West and hate speech, the NYC homeless and due process of law, Twitter and the freedom of speech, the FBI as a domestic surveillance agency, and the question “Why is the government in my soup?”

Song of Joy

Song of Joy is an autobiographical play that explores how perpetually immigrating as a child shapes an individual's family and definition of "home." Throughout the play, Carol embodies colorful characters from his family to share his experience navigating a life that is constantly in motion. From learning Carnatic music in a boarding school in India, to auditioning to be a ballerina in Texas, Carol seeks acceptance from those he loves while coming into his newfound "American" identity.

Laugh-out-loud funny, painfully honest, and sometimes heartbreaking, Song of Joy is a love letter to all immigrant parents who make immeasurable sacrifices in order to better the lives of their children. And how the children of those immigrants often have to balance what they owe their parents, with what they owe to themselves.

First-Ever Children’s Museum In The Bronx…

A Destination for All New Yorkers!

The brand-new Bronx Children’s Museum is a 13,650-square-foot permanent space in the South Bronx, featuring site-specific art installations and interactive exhibits where families can play, learn and connect to the Bronx - its natural and cultural resources - through dramatic role-play, art, and scientific exploration. Geared for kids from infancy to fourth grade, exhibit highlights include The Waterways, a 35-foot long water table where children can launch boats, splash and play with locks and bridges while learning about local waterways such as the Bronx River, Harlem River and Orchard Beach. In The Woods exhibit, children can discover a variety of animals, plants, and other natural features of the Bronx through a microscope, observe live animals in their enclosures, create nature patterns, or build a kid-sized beaver lodge. A whimsical casitabodega, community garden, farm stand and surrounding streetscape give children a chance to explore The Block, a miniature replica of a local neighborhood. Families and caregivers will delight in The Nesta soft area museum space, where little ones, ages 0-3, are encouraged to develop their fine and gross motor skills through crawling, pulling up, and sorting objects. Sonia’s Corner, named in honor of both Justice Sonia Sotomayor and fellow Bronx native, actor and writer Sonia Manzano, has an array of children’s books and family-friendly resources.

The Story Pirates Book Club will launch in January 2023 with their inaugural selection: Mr. Lemoncello’s Very First Game by New York Times bestselling author Chris Grabenstein.

Following the success of the Story Pirates Creator Camp, a virtual summer program that debuted in Summer 2020, Story Pirates and Random House Children’s Books will partner once again on the first-ever Story Pirates Book Club. Launching in January 2023, the monthly book club will introduce kids and families to the best new books from a host of award-winning authors, including familiar and beloved New York Times bestsellers like Chris Grabenstein (Mr. Lemoncello’s Library) and Mary Pope Osborne (Magic Tree House), in addition to exciting middle-grade debuts like H. Professional New York City Teaching Artists lead ensemble-based instruction.

Weekly show titles inspire young people to create their own mini-musicals as an ensemble. Themes include: It’s a MEOW-sical! I can’t—I have rehearsal! Pirates & Princesses! No autographs, please! Dramatic Dinosaurs! and So apparently, I’m dramatic! On the last day of class, friends and family are invited to attend the premiere of the campers’ original mini-musical.

Lyric Opera of Chicago
The Factotum by Will Liverman, DJ King Rico, and Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj, with Maleek Washington
Sunday, January 7, 7:30 pm
Tickets $35-$45, Choose What You Pay

Grammy-nominated baritone Will Liverman, an alumnus of Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center, producer and multi-instrumentalist DJ King Rico, and dramaturg, co-book writer, and director Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj create a new work inspired by Rossini's The Barber of Seville, that has grown into an original piece all its own. Ahead of its February 3 world premiere at Chicago’s Harris Theater, go behind the scenes as musician Damien Sneed moderates a discussion with Liverman, Rico, Ramoon Maharaj, and choreographer Maleek Washington, and cast members perform highlights. Learn about this joyful and original commission by Lyric Opera of Chicago, which is rooted in a Black barbershop on Chicago's South Side. A soul opera, the work moves from gospel and funk to rap, hip-hop, barbershop quartet, and R&B, all with the operatic artform at its heart—in a very human comedy that redefines everything that opera can be. Don’t miss this irresistible upbeat work that celebrates the strength of community.
