I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Books: The Lindbergh Nanny and Macy's The Store. The Star. The Story.

Today we are recommending The Lindberg Nanny by Mariah Fredericks. Based partially on transcripts and known facts and partially on the author's imagination, this novel paints a portrait of the young woman tasked with caring for the infant son of America's hero, Charles Lindbergh. Partly out of loyalty to her young charge whom she loved and partly out of self-preservation as the entire household comes under suspicion when it becomes evident an insider had to be in on the crime, Betty Gow is determined to find out what really happened. This book is both a gripping tale of a young woman caught up in tragic circumstances beyond her control and a fascinating insider's look at "the crime of the century,."

Today we are recommending Macy's The Store. The Star. The Story. by Robert M. Grippo. This book provides a comprehensive look at what is arguably the world's most famous store. Founded as a dry goods store in Massachusetts by Rowland H. Macy, the book traces the store's history including its move to  New York, the opening of the famous Herald Square location, and more including how it went from a simple dry goods store to a multidepartment emporium. The book is also full of interesting information about how such beloved staples as the Thanksgiving Day Parade, The 4th of July Fireworks, and the annual Flower Show got started. There are also a lot of fun facts that you might not have known about the store like how it used to have its own hospital and that for many years it only accepted cash payments. There is also information about what was going on in the world at the time like who was President, what people were wearing, important inventions and more. Plus, there are plenty of nostalgic pictures including ones of the parade, the fireworks, and the flower show. All in all, it's just an extremely absorbing read.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
