Only Gold is a new musical co-written, directed, and choreographed by Andy Blankenbueler. Accordingly. the dancing as you would expect from the choreographer of such shows as Hamilton and Bandstand is incredible. It is a show about romantic connections: connections needing to be rediscovered, connections found, and connections lost. The multilayered plot revolves around a King and Queen who need to reconnect, a Princess finding love, and a clockmaker, whose father was a jeweler, and his wife, a musician, drifting apart. The story is interesting and mostly completely original although there are aspects that are familiar from other stories. Unfortunately, however. the show moves along at a fairly slow pace and seems to drag at times. The songs were written by popstar, Kate Nash, who also acts as the show's narrator. The music is lively and fun to listen to in the context of the show, but the songs won't necessarily stick in your head. Accordingly, although this is over all a decent show, the dancing is by far the highlight.
