I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Cocoon

Presented in four vignettes which explore various phases of romantic relationships, Cocoon delves into the transcendent bonds of human connection. Its four story lines tie together with concepts of reincarnation and love’s transcendent power over time and corporality. Cocoon is a relevant, honest and effortlessly relatable work that will hit you right in the feels. Bring your partners, your secret crush or your single girlfriends and join us for a glass of red and an intimate evening with Cocoon.

The Culture

An Australian story, told in true-blue Aussie accents and filled with cheeky Aussie humour. For an Australian in NYC, The Culture will be endearingly familiar, but as the show is filled modern cultural references from politicians, celebrities and royals from across the world, audiences from all over will engage with the universality of this story - the good and the bad.

Katie and Will are best friends, podcast hosts, woke and very single. The search for love in the modern world can be dangerous for a gay man and a woman. Is their friendship enough to keep them safe? Set in Sydney Australia, The Culture tackles heavy issues with a light touch, using the warmth and intimate banter between two best friends. Audiences are welcomed into Will and Katie’s living room and into an important wider conversation.

TO PERFORM ONE-NIGHT-ONLY IN 'THE

24 HOUR PLAYS ON BROADWAY’

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, AT TOWN HALL IN NYC

The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway are an intensive theatrical endeavor where artists write, direct, and perform six original short plays within 24 hours.

The 24 Hour Plays begin the evening before the performance, when the actors, writers, directors, and production staff gather for the Meet and Greet. In one dynamic hour, each person shares a prop and costume, and actors show off their special skills and something they've always wanted to do on stage. With this creative fuel in mind, the playwrights stay up all night writing world-premiere short plays. In the morning, the directors and actors return to launch into Broadway's fastest rehearsal process and at 8 PM, the curtain rises on a performance of six never-before-seen new works.

Tickets start at $60, with tickets and VIP packages available at 24hourplays.org/broadway. Proceeds from the event support The 24 Hour Playsnon-profit activities throughout the year, including education programming with students from middle school to college, professional development for emerging artists in The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, the free online series The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues, and partner productions all around the world.

The 92nd Street Y, New York (92NY), one of New York’s leading cultural venues, presents the world premiere of cellist Seth Parker Woods’ evening-length Difficult Grace in a new version with choreographer and dancer Roderick George on November 19, 2022 at 7:30pm ET at the Kaufmann Concert Hall. The concert will also be available for viewing online for 72 hours from time of broadcast. Tickets for both the in-person and livestream options start at $25 and are available at 92ny.org/event/seth-parker-woods.

An evocative, theatrical, and genre-bending collaboration with choreographer/dancer George, Difficult Grace features Woods in the triple role of cellist, narrator/guide, and movement artist, performing music written for and with him by Freida Abtan, Monty Adkins, Fredrick Gifford, Ted Hearne, Devonté Hynes, Nathalie Joachim and Pierre Alexandre Tremblay with visual artwork by Jacob Lawrence, Barbara Earl Thomas, Zoë McLean, and Freida Abtan. The production features sound design by Christopher Botta and lighting and visual design by Thomas Dunn.

4) The American Theatre As Seen by Hirschfeld
to Be Released Nov. 15
in Conjunction With Exhibition at
The Museum of Broadway

This fall, the theater and art worlds celebrate The American Theatre As Seen By Hirschfeld with a stunning new 256-page book and a new exhibition launching the opening of the new Museum of Broadway in Times Square. David Leopold, Creative Director of The Al Hirschfeld Foundation is curator of the exhibition and editor of the new book.

The American Theatre as seen by Hirschfeld 1962-2002 showcases Hirschfeld’s greatest theater work from five decades, including some of the most important productions from the last sixty years such as Hello Dolly!, Fiddler on the Roof, Funny Girl, Cabaret, Annie, Sweeney Todd, Les Misérables, Fences, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Rent, Angels in America, and Hairspray. This collection takes you backstage with portraits including Stephen Sondheim, Neil Simon, Edward Albee, Wendy Wasserstein, Tom Stoppard, and Hal Prince. With something for every type of theatergoer, this is the book theater lovers have been waiting for. Now for the first time, nearly 300 Hirschfeld drawings are collected in one volume that both shows and tells the story of nearly a half century of the American Theatre, most of which have never been collected in a book before.

When a first volume of The American Theatre As Seen by Hirschfeld was published in 1961, Hirschfeld himself designed and curated the book, featuring 250 works from the first 40 years of his career. It was Al Hirschfeld’s favorite collection, as it was for fans, garnering rave reviews, printing several editions, and is still highly prized by collectors today. Just before Hirschfeld died in 2003, he planned a sequel that would cover the other 40 years of his career, but the project was shelved with his passing …until now.

Available exclusively online and at The Museum of Broadway starting November 15, The American Theatre as seen by Hirschfeld 1962-2002 is now available for preorder online at www.AlHirschfeldFoundationShop.org/AmericanTheatre and will be at www.Amazon.com starting November 15.

FEATURING A LIBRETTO BY JESSICA SWAN

AND THE MUSIC OF DUKE ELLINGTON AND BILLY STRAYHORN

The World Premiere of SUGAR HILL The Ellington/Strayhorn Nutcracker, the jazz-steeped reimagining of The Nutcracker based on the genre-defying collaboration of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, will run at New York City Center (131 W 55th St.) from November 15-27, 2022. SUGAR HILL is set to the timeless music of Ellington and Strayhorn and features a libretto by Jessica Swan.

A jazz-steeped retelling of the classic holiday story, SUGAR HILL The Ellington/Strayhorn Nutcracker celebrates the music and magic of the jazz heartbeat of Harlem in Sugar Hill.  A tribute to the joy of collaboration, the beauty of diversity, and the power of individuality.

The beloved ancient Korean musical storytelling form of pansori fuses with K-pop and Greek tragedy in an incredible production from the National Theater of Korea and visionary Singaporean director Ong Keng Sen. K-pop producer and Parasite composer Jung Jae-il created the original music in collaboration with renowned pansori master Ahn Sook-sun, a Living National Treasure in South Korea. Set after the sacking of Troy, Trojan Women sweeps audiences up in the heartbreak and determination of the city’s female survivors.
