What:  Just because most shows in New York City don't have performances on Mondays doesn't mean there isn't anything fun to do on a Monday night in the City.  Every Monday at 8:00 PM at Birdland Jazz Club,  Jim Caruso hosts Cast Party. Cast Party is an open mike night so if you want the chance to perform on a New York Stage (albeit a small one), you are definitely going to want to attend Cast Party. Even if you are not an aspiring performer, you may want to attend just to enjoy the performances of others. Some day, you may even be able to say you saw some famous performers when they got their start.  

Of course, like other live performance venues, Birdland was forced to shut down for more than a year due to the pandemic. During this time,  Cast Party pivoted into a new online format with a new name, Jim Caruso's Pajama Cast Party. The online version includes performances from Broadway Stars, Jazz Singers, Cabaret performers, and more. Even with Birdland's recent reopening and the return to live performances of the original Jim Caruso's Cast Party, the newer online version of the show continues except that has now switched to Wednesdays at 8:00 PM.

Although it's always great to have the opportunity to see a show live, there are still plenty of great things about the online version.  You don't have to be in New York to watch it. You can watch it from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection. Although you can still watch the show live at 8:00 PM on Wednesdays, you don't have to watch it at that time to have the opportunity to see it. All past episodes are available to watch on the Cast Party Network on YouTube. Past episodes are even bookmarked so if you want to get right to a particular performance within an episode, you can easily do so. All in all, whether you are able to catch it live or attend online, whether you want to be a part of the show or just enjoy the performances of others, you'll definitely want to check out Jim Caruso's Cast Party and/or Jim Caruso's Pajama Cast Party
