Brooklyn-based Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation and their School of the Arts program is gearing up for what they anticipate will be its largest Children's Summer Art Camp since its inception in 2006. The Camp, which specializes in servicing disenfranchised youth 4 - 13 years old from its surrounding communities has attracted over 1000 youth, averaging 70 youth per summer. This summer they are adding 30 additional slots. The day Camp is scheduled for six weeks, July 1 - August 9, Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 PM.Tuition is $900 and there's a $50 Registration fee. The Camp is located at Asase Yaa's new home, PS 21, 180 Chauncey Street, Brooklyn, NY.

As the weather warms up, so does our excitement for summer — and Summer Art Colony! This summer, choose from 60+ camps in three exciting locations: at the museum in Soho, on historic Governors Island, and Brooklyn's Lakeside in Prospect Park. With classes ranging from painting and sculpture to film and animation, every child is guaranteed to have an art adventure.

All classes run from 9-5 pm unless otherwise indicated.

Claymation
July 8-12 // Ages 7-12

Young artists will explore the process of claymation as they learn the tools necessary to make their own films. Experimenting with materials like wire armature, paper, fabric and clay, students will flex their creative muscles on a series of films using iStopmotion software. Sign Up

July 29 - August 2 // Ages 7-12

Students will use a variety of recyclable materials to create their own unique works of art. From the found object sculpture of Marcel DuChamp and Michelle Reader to Josh Blackwell’s plastic bag weavings, the possibilities for recycled materials are endless! Sign Up

The Art of 3D Printing

This class will explore the tools and applications of 3D printing. Young artists will learn the basics of 3D modeling using Sketch-Up and Sculptris to create a digital file based on their own design. Students will then learn how computer generated form translates into printable 3D objects. Sign Up

Over the past 33 years, GSK Science in the Summer™ has brought free science education to more than 300,000 students nationwide. This summer alone, 26,000 children across the U.S. will discover how food fuels our bodies, where oxygen goes when we breathe it, how our brains interpret the world, and the role DNA plays in making us who we are.

5) Summer Musical Theater Workshop

Summer Musical Theater Workshop at Lucy Moses School is New York City’s only summer musical theater program that gives children the chance to perform in original musicals, written for them by musical theater professionals. Kids participate in all aspects of producing a show in this 5-week workshop, which culminates in a full-scale production in Merkin Hall.
