Me - Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations was a good show. I was not very familiar with the Temptations or most of their music before I saw the show. I knew the song My Girl, and I might have known a few other songs, but I don't remember. Most people in the audience, however seemed very familiar with the music. Some were even singing along. I really liked the music. I definitely would like to listen to it again. It was interesting learning the Temptations story. They went through a lot. The acting and singing were both very good. The dancing was good too. They did some really cool tricks like splits and catching the microphone in the air and stuff when they were singing and dancing. Even though there were some more dramatic and even sad parts, mostly it was a very lively and fun show.
Mom - Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations is like a combination of a Temptations concert and a behind the music special. Although we have seen other shows of this type, the Temptations seem to have more ups and downs then most maybe because there was so many of them. All in all, over the years, there have been something like 24 Temptations. The show, however, concentrates mostly on the original members and a little bit on the first few replacement members. It is a fascinating story full of intense highs and lows that will take your emotions on roller coaster ride. The performances are good all around, However, what really drives this story is the music. The Temptations music covers such a wide variety of genres and styles that anyone is bound to find something they love about it. Even if all they did was sing and dance in this show, it would still be great fun. Finding out a little bit about how all that great music came about and the people behind the music just makes it that much more interesting.
And that's our view. Tune in Sunday for this week's Sunday Scoop.
