I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - The Book of Mormon

What: The Book of Mormon

Where: Eugene O'Neill Theater
             230 W. 49th St.
             New York, NY

Who: Recommended for Ages 16 and Up Due to Language and Subject Matter

Me - The Book of Mormon is an amazing show! It's unlike any other. All of the music is incredible and really fun to listen to. All of the songs are great, but I especially enjoy the song Turn It Off. The singing, dancing, and acting are all great too which only makes the music better. It's also really funny. I was laughing throughout the whole show. It's not meant to offend any specific group, it's just a lighthearted over exxagerated depiction of many different groups. If you are sensitive to that kind of humor, I would not recommend this show for you. However if it does appeal to you. this is one of the best shows I have ever seen, and I would highly recommend it.*

Mom - True, The Book of Mormon is full of what some would consider inappropriate humor. Just knowing that its creators were also responsible for the over-the-top television show, South Park, one would expect nothing less. However, if you can get past all of that it is really a delightfully fun show. It is full of amusing quirky characters, catchy fun songs, and hilarious energetic choreography. Keep in mind, that is a satire and that the writers are equal opportunity lampooners. Even though the show is called The Book of Mormon, Mormons are not the only ones satirized in this show. It is all in fun though, and if you take it that way you can really enjoy this zestfully irreverent show. However, I cannot stress strongly enough that is not a show for young children due to both language and subject matter. It may even be less appropriate for children than South Park itself. Also, just because you are not a fan of South Park does not necessarily mean that you will not like this show. I would not count myself among the fans of that show, but I really enjoyed The Book of Mormon. It is really a very entertaining show.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for another installment of our Working in Theater series in this week's Saturday Special.
