Me - Something Rotten!, wow! Something Rotten! was an amazing Broadway show. It was so funny! I It is a show about the Bottom Brothers, Nick and Nigel. They are playwriters trying to outdo Shakespeare. Nick goes to a seer to see what Shakespeare's next greatest hit is going to be. Instead of seeing Hamlet, the seer tells him Omelette so the Bottom Brother's write the first ever musical, Omelette the Musical. My favorite character in the show is Shakespeare played by Christian Borle. He is an arrogant, cocky, jerk who steals the ideas of Nigel Bottom. Both the character of Shakespeare and actor who plays him are so funny. While the song aren't the best, they are still good. One of the funniest parts of the shows is how much they spoof other shows. Some of the shows they spoof were Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music and more. This show was one of the most hilarious shows I have ever seen, and I would definitely recommend seeing it.
Mom - Five More Great Things About Something Rotten!
1. The talented stars -
Brian D' Arcy James (Nick Bottom) is known for such shows as Shrek and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Christian Borle (Shakespeare) is known for such shows Peter and the Starcatcher and Legally Blonde
Both also appeared in the TV series Smash.
Borle appeared in both The Sound of Music Live and Peter Pan Live as well.
2. The talented supporting players including
John Carini as Nigel Bottom
Brad Oscar as Nostradamus
Heidi Blickenstaff as Bea
It is no surprise that several of the actors in this cast are nominated for Tony awards.
3. The talented song writing team of Karey Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick
They have a background in popular music and it shows as the songs in this show are the kind that you want to listen to again.
4. The sets and costumes by Scott Pask and Gregg Barnes, respectively really set the mood and help transport you back to Shakespearean time.
5. It is not based on a movie or anything that has come before but is a totally original piece of work.
These things and more make Something Rotten! a show that you won't want to miss!
And that's our view. What do you think would make a funny musical?
Tune in tomorrow for Funny Friday.
