atticwife is a biting satire that scathingly takes on the tradwife trend, influencer culture, and more. Astrid is a traditional wife whose husband has locked her away in the attic. Not only does she see nothing wrong with this, but she cheerfully posts about her attic life to her many social media followers. It takes an outsider breaking into her house to try and rescue her to make her realize that maybe she actually does need rescuing, if it isn't too late.
This show is equal parts darkly amusing and absolutely horrifying. Laura Clare Brown is excellent in the role of Astrid. Her transition as her perky, upbeat Stepford wife facade begins to crumble is truly heartbreaking. Jen Clark is a force to be reckoned with as Astrid's would-be rescuer. This is not a show that you see and then immediately forget about as soon as it's over; this one will haunt you.
And that's our view. atticwife was part of 59E59's East to Edinburgh Festival and will soon be heading to the festival. For more information or to purchase tickets to see it there, visit www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/atticwife
