Tips for Tuesday - Books: Love You, Mean It & Every Time I Go On Vacation Someone Dies; & Movie: Main Character Energy

Books: Love You, Mean It & Every Time I Go On Vacation Someone Dies

Today, we are recommending Love You, Mean It by Jilly Gagnon. Ellie Greco is forced to give up pursuing her dream career as a costume designer to work in her family's deli which is about to be made obsolete by a huge conglomerate. To save the business, she reluctantly joins forces with Theo Taylor, whose father owns the company trying to put her family out of business. 

This is a cute romance with very likable characters. If you like trope-filled books this one has plenty of them, including, fake fiancee, enemies to lovers, amnesia, and more. Plus, it's well-written, moves along quickly, and it's just an all-around highly satisfying read.

Today, we are recommending Every Time I Go on Vacation Someone Dies by Catherine Mack. All Eleanor wants is to get through her book tour and plan a new book killing off her main character, Conner Smith, thus eliminating her reluctant attachment to the real Connor. Then someone starts trying to Connor for real and Eleanor too. 

This fun book reads like a play with the central character constantly breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the reader. It is full of quirky characters and generous doses of humor. If you like your mysteries with a touch of irreverence, you may enjoy this one. However it is important to note that this is the first book in a planned series so if you don't want to get sucked up into reading a whole series, you might want to skip it.

Today we are recommending Main Character Energy. This short film about a pair of actors auditioning for a film amusingly takes on gender-neutral names, the whole audition process, and more in the span of about 12 minutes.
