I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Little Island

What: Little Island

Where: Pier 55
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

Me - The concept of little Island is really interesting,  They actually made an island out of nothing. That's crazy! It is a really pretty place to visit. The views from there are nice.  It's a good place to sit and relax or walk around but not on a really hot day like when we were there. There are lots of plants and colorful flowers on Little Island. You can also see a show because there are two amphitheaters. There are places where you buy snacks or drinks. There is also a place where you can play music. You step on different spots on the ground, and it plays different notes. I am not really sure what that is though, but it's fun. Other than that there is not that much to do on Little Island. It's still worth a visit though, but the best time to visit is in the fall or spring when the weather is cooler. I would like to go back there then. The summer is too hot!

Mom - Little Island is a really unique park in New York City. It is an entirely manmade island in the middle of the Hudson River. You can get there by crossing one of two pedestrian bridges. It is a great place to go and convene with nature as there are lots of beautiful plants and flowers to see and winding paths to walk around. You are able to climb to a pretty high elevation on the island where you can see nice views of the City.

Lots of events take place on the Island including many free events, There are art workshops and performances of all types including poetry, dance, comedy, and more. There are also ticketed performances in The Amph, a charming outdoor amphitheater by the water. Tickets for performances at the Amph are $65. They are also available for free or at discounted rates through Little Island's community partners and/or through TDF.

Litte Island is open daily from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM. From 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM no reservations are required. From 12:00 PM on reservations are required to limit overcrowding. Free timed reservations can be made at the Little Island Website. It is definitely worth a visit especially if you like interesting out-of-the-ordinary places.

And that's our view. For more about Little Island, to make a reservation to visit, or to find out about shows and events happening at Little Island, visit littleisland.org.

Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
