I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s “Powerhouse in Pigtails” Margaret Josephs takes readers through her tumultuous childhood, the launch of her lifestyle brand, and being an uncompromising woman in a man’s world, along with never-been-told stories from her personal life.

Raised by a single, unpredictable mother with no stability or blueprint for future success, Margaret dreamed big and chased those dreams fearlessly. Despite a few destructive relationships and career challenges, she launched a multi-million-dollar lifestyle company and found her happily ever. In this part memoir, part entrepreneurial manifesto, Margaret shares her road to success and spills stories about the time Joan Rivers gave her the best advice she ever got, the rendezvous she had with a famous rock star, the affair with her contractor that ended her marriage, and much more.

Written in her trademark tongue-in-cheek voice, CAVIAR DREAMS, TUNA FISH BUDGET takes fans (574K followers on Instagram) along her wild, bumpy journey to entrepreneurial success and reality TV fame, and can speak to:
  • The daughter of a single party-girl mother, her unconventional childhood of no rules which included wild parties, witnessing her mother’s affairs, decadent shopping trips whilst the electric was being cut, and the contradiction she felt emulating her mother for her beauty and work ethic but angered by her inappropriate behavior and lack of parenting.
  • The sexual harassment and discrimination she faced in her early days of working in fashion, and how her mentor at her first job continues to inspire her to mentor young women today.
  • Starting her lifestyle brand MacBeth Collection in her kitchen, growing it into a multi-million-dollar company, and the lawsuits that resulted in filing for bankruptcy.
  • Her first marriage at the age of 24, trading in NYC nightclubs to suburbia and PTA clubs, becoming a mother, and how working with her husband put a spotlight on their marital issues.
  • Meeting her current husband Joe, the slow burn of their relationship, their Vegas elopement, how the affair affected the relationship with her children.
  • Joining the RHONJ cast, her first impressions of the cast, her Reunion Show ritual, and her take on infamous moments in the show like the “Pool Push” and the “Ponytail Pull.”

CAVIAR DREAMS, TUNA FISH BUDGET takes readers along Margaret’s wild, bumpy journey to entrepreneurial success and reality TV fame, written in her trademark no-nonsense, tongue-in-cheek voice with the perfect combination of grit and glitz.

14) MASTERVOICES PERFORMS
ANYONE CAN WHISTLE
THE MADCAP MUSICAL SATIRE BY STEPHEN SONDHEIM AND
ARTHUR LAURENTS,
ON MARCH 10 AT CARNEGIE HALL
STARRING VANESSA WILLIAMS, ELIZABETH STANLEY, SANTINO FONTANA,
DOUGLAS SILLS, EDDIE COOPER,
AND MICHAEL MULHEREN

MasterVoices continues its 2021-22 season celebrating its 80th anniversary on Thursday, March 10 at Carnegie Hall with a concert staging of the cult-favorite musical, Anyone Can Whistle by Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents. The performance will star Vanessa Williams, who performed in the 2002 Broadway revival of Sondheim’s Into the Woods and the 2010 revue Sondheim on Sondheim, in the role of a corrupt mayor of a small economically depressed American town. Joining her will be Elizabeth Stanley, seen most recently on Broadway in Jagged Little Pill and who played April in the 2006 revival of Company; and one of Broadway’s favorite leading men, Tony Award winner Santino Fontana, along with Douglas Sills, Eddie Cooper, and Michael Mulheren. It is directed and conducted by MasterVoices Artistic Director Ted Sperling.

In the early 1960s Sondheim and Laurents set out to satirize the loss of individuality in the Eisenhower years with a free-wheeling production that would also break with the conventions of musicals of the era. The 1964 show revealed early signs of Sondheim’s rebel genius as it skewered many targets, revealing what can happen when a community puts its faith in an unreliable leader. In his book Finishing the Hat, Sondheim describes the zany plot as “a fanciful story about a venal Mayoress who gets the bright idea of arranging a fake miracle to attract tourists. […] Farcical complications ensue.” Also in the mix is an unlikely romance between a rational nurse, out to expose the fraud, and a chaos-loving doctor, who makes us question the very notion of sanity. Anyone Can Whistle has not been seen in New York since 2010, when it was presented by the Encores! series at City Center.

Featuring items from the 17th century to the mid-20th century, the online collection consists of a searchable database of selected works of art and historic artifacts from the Seaport Museum’s permanent and working collections of over 28,500 objects, encapsulating the rich maritime heritage of New York City.

The four sets of new digital galleries include:

Ceramics Highlights (125)
The Seaport Museum’s ceramics collections are a window into the creation and production of ceramics from the 17th century to the mid-20th century on a global scale. Artifacts included ordinary and ornamental earthenware pieces like jugs, pitchers, and figurines, as well as porcelain imported from China, together with ‘china-wares’ produced in the Western countries. Artifacts also include celebratory transfer printing plates and a wide range of dining and drinking ware produced in factories to be used on board the great ocean liner of the turn of the 20th century.

Drawings and Watercolors Highlights (250)
The Museum’s collection of drawings and watercolors include depictions of New York City’s waterfront and landmarks, renowned vessels, and marine subjects from around the world. Items include a wide range of works on paper, from preparatory studies and sketches, to finished works produced for New York City businesses and maritime publications, as well as unique compositions made by sailors documenting their experiences at sea. These works of art, spanning from the 18th to the 20th century, are often rare and praised for their aesthetic appeal.

Lithographs and Prints Highlights (250)
The South Street Seaport Museum houses an outstanding collection of over 2,500 lithographs and prints. These prints primarily depict New York City scenes, New York Harbor landscapes, the American Civil War, and portraits of celebrated clipper ships and ocean liners. The primary focus of our prints collection is American popular lithographs produced in the mid-late 19th century by New York City firms such as Currier & Ives and Endicott & Co.; however, the Seaport Museum’s holdings also include a growing number of 20th century works on paper.

Wendell Lorang Maritime Postcard Collection (300)
This collection contains 20th century postcards donated by Wendell Lorang in 2005. The collection is organized into five main categories: ocean liners, lake steamers, coastal steamers and ferries, United States Navy warships and battleships, sailors and shipboard activities, and Navy yards, ports and harbors. The postcards cover European countries and United States areas, and while not all of the Museum’s postcards went through the mail and include handwritten messages, many of them do, sharing their uniqueness as historical documents and voices of the past.

Additional virtual highlights of the South Street Seaport Museum collections include the following categories on seaportmuseum.org/collections: Architectural Elements, Manuscripts and Ephemera, Navigational Instruments and Shipwright Tools, Objects Around the Neighborhood, Paintings, Photographs, Printing History, Scrimshaw, Ship Components, Ship Models, Special Collections, Tattoo Collection, Remains of the Old Hotels, Institutional Archives, and Maritime Reference Library.

The South Street Seaport Museum’s collections consist of more than 28,500 works of art and artifacts and over 55,000 historic records documenting the rise of New York as a port city, and its role in the development of the economy and business of the United States through social and architectural landscapes. The Museum’s collections trace the history of New York City’s Harbor and Port, from the East River piers and the waterfront areas of Manhattan, to the city’s other boroughs and the New Jersey shoreline. The Museum also documents and interprets New York international trade routes, global cultures, and seafaring, including all aspects of life, art, and work associated with them.

Pia is a passionate young researcher investigating cutting-edge new ideas about how to heal the mind from traumatic memories. But her interest is also personal, deeply intertwined with her family’s history. When a figure from the past unexpectedly shows up, urging Pia’s mother to testify about her experiences during the violence of 1970s Cambodia, unresolved histories are brought to the surface. Pia must navigate through a latticework of interconnected memories: her relationship, her brother Darany and, centrally, her mother Chantrea—making discoveries that will radically alter everyone’s lives in the present.

what you are now asks what if our memories aren’t fixed, but change each time we recall the past? This world premiere by Sam Chanse is a thrillingly insightful new play that asks the audience to move through the shifting dance between the past and present, and to consider how with new understanding we might change “who you were then” to “what you are now.”

25) Acclaimed Prison Drama Returns
A WHITE MAN’S GUIDE TO RIKERS ISLAND
Previews Begin March 10

After a critically acclaimed and often-extended run in 2019, A WHITE MAN’S GUIDE TO RIKERS ISLAND will return this spring for an encore run. Based on a true story, it is written by Richard Roy (Richard III with Denzel Washington) and Eric C. Webb, directed by Thomas G. Waites (Awake and Sing! starring Frances McDormand, King Richard III starring Al Pacino), and stars Richard Roy and Dillon John Collins. When a drunk driving incident leads to an involuntary manslaughter charge, a privileged white actor find himself serving time at Rikers Island, where the population is over 95% people of color. For the first time in his life, Rich is now a minority and his skin color makes him a target. Caught between drug lords, gang members, and his wise trans cellmate, this clueless white man must learn how to survive the violence, horniness, and mind-numbing nothingness that is prison. All while trying to find forgiveness for his crime. Oh, and at the insistence of his Corrections Officer, write A WHITE MAN’S GUIDE TO RIKERS ISLAND for submission to the National Penitentiary Press Competition. Seriously.
