I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Still More Theater Saturday - Notes From Now: Songs of Resilence & Renewal

We were given complimentary tickets to Notes from Now for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Where: 59E59 Theatres
             59 E. 59 St.
             New York, NY

When: Through March 20, 2022

Notes from Now is a song cycle full of songs related to the pandemic and everything we have experienced in the last two years. There are amusing songs like an ode to baking bread (Ovid) or one about the love of musical theater (Coming Back to You). There are poignant serious songs like one about moving forward in a better way (We Are Building Our Future). There are songs about virtual school (Mr. What's Your Name), Zoom meetings (The Lights in the Kitchen), and the political divide (Polarized), and more. The songs were written by a plethora of who's who in musical theater including Gretchen Cryer, Stephen Schwartz (with Alexandra Elle), Ryan Scott Oliver, and more.  All the songs are deeply meaningful and beautifully sung by the seven-member cast. All are highly relatable as well. Even though most people will probably not be able to relate to every song, anybody can relate to at least some of them, and all are still enjoyable to listen to whether you relate to them directly or not. The show is like a collective catharsis. It reminds us that we lived through all this, and we are still here.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for this week's Sunday Scoop.
