I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

The Bang Group presents the nineteenth annual production of Nut/Cracked on Thursday, December 16 at 7:30pm, Friday, December 17 at 7:30pm, and Saturday, December 18 at 3pm and 7:30pm, at the Flea Theater, 20 Thomas Street, NYC. Tickets are $15 for students, seniors, and artists, $16 for groups of 10 or more, and $25 general admission, and can be purchased online at brownpapertickets.com/event/5291216

Delighting audiences for nearly two decades, Nut/Cracked is The Bang Group’s beloved, witty response to The Nutcracker, conceived as a fluid dance world where genres collide and jostle each other with a genial clamor in celebration of the winter holidays. Choreographer David Parker liberates The Nutcracker from its plot and tradition and seeks for it a new identity as a free-wheeling, genre-fluid vaudeville which breaks apart elements of the holiday season: surprise, anticipation, greed, community, generosity, and delight in a series of dances drawing inspiration from all corners of the dance canon—tap riffs and en pointe ballet by way of bubble wrap, disco, and Chinese take-out noodles, with modern and post-modern dance, disco, social forms and pure invention.

Tumbling Brights also Sparkle in the Broadway Malls Symbolizing Neighborhood Comeback

A Month-Long Celebration of Community Resilience - Special Pop-Up Performances Featuring Local Talent to Delight Neighborhood on December Wednesdays

Lincoln Square, NY – Shining lights and pop-up delights are heading to the Lincoln Square neighborhood this holiday season as the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID) announced its expanded holiday program to celebrate the neighborhood’s resiliency and culture comeback. The Lincoln Square neighborhood celebrated the return of its holiday tree Monday night, which now shines brightly over Dante Park (Broadway and 64th Street) across from the newly reopened Empire Hotel and PJ Clarke’s, Lincoln Square.  The 30’ Concolor Fir from Upstate NY features star-shaped ornaments that were designed by community members in partnership with a local small business and pottery studio, Color Me Mine, Upper West Side. The tree also features ballet pointe shoes that were donated by the New York City Ballet and iridescent stars from the American Folk Art Museum.

The Lincoln Square BID announced a special month-long series of pop-up performances that will delight the neighborhood with a rotating line-up of local performers every Wednesday throughout December in Dante Park, late afternoon and early evenings. The talent lineup includes Frank London and the Klezmer Brass AllstarsMariachi Nuevo Mexico; internationally acclaimed tap dance artist, performer, choreographer, educator, and bandleader, Michela Marino Lerman; a specially commissioned and choreographed surrealist performance by Alice Farley Dance Theater; Kaufman Music Center’s Special Music School High School Choir; the New York Choy Loy Fut Lion Dance Team; and caroling with VocalSoul and the Fabulous Fezziwigs.  For details, visit www.lincolnsquarebid.org/holidays and note that rain dates for all performances will be the next day, Thursday, except for the Kaufman Music Center High School Choir, which will not be rescheduled in the event of rain.

The Lincoln Square BID also expanded its choreographed lighting display Tumbling Brights, which had launched in place of the holiday tree last holiday season. Instead of ten figures, there is now a procession of 15 lighted spirit figures illuminating the Broadway malls from Columbus Circle up to 70th Street as symbols of hope, resilience and solidarity. The installation is designed by New York-based lighting firm Linnaea Tillett Lighting Design Associates with Seth Tillett.

The full lighting installation, which are sustainable and environmentally friendly and are not wrapped around any trees, along with the holiday tree will be on display through January 2022.

20) A New Holiday Special-

PADDINGTON SAVES CHRISTMAS

Streaming Now Available

Rockefeller Studios, in association with The Copyrights Group and StudioCanal, presents Paddington Saves Christmas, starring the beloved bear of children’s books and screens, large and small, in a special holiday show. The largest streaming event of this kind, the virtual show will stream simultaneously in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, is available now through until January 4, 2022. This is the first production created by Rockefeller Studios, marking Rockefeller’s expansion into filmed content.

Inspired by Rockefeller Productions’ highly acclaimed stage production,  Paddington Gets in A Jam , this unique puppet performance has been created for the whole family. This special production has been developed for children and families to enjoy at home over the holidays while raising money for theatres around the world that are unable to put on family entertainment this year.

In Jonathan Rockefeller’s Paddington Saves Christmas, Paddington helps his ever-grumpy neighbor, Mr. Curry, who is panicking in anticipation of the arrival of an important visitor for the holidays. Paddington volunteers to help Mr. Curry prepare his house for Christmas, but in typical Paddington fashion, his good intentions lead precipitously from one predicament to the next!

Savion Glover, Tony Award winner, is the ultimate artistic hyphenate. From stage to screen, and now in the crypto universe, Savion is proud to launch his own NFT (non-fungible token) collection — in partnership with Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, who teamed-up with digital disruptor AkoinNFT. The time for “I Am” is now.

NFTs are digital art and experiences sold through blockchain technology and offer a unique set of owner rights via an embedded smart-contract. NFTs assure that creators are compensated, in perpetuity, each time the piece sells, thereby providing an ongoing revenue stream.

In Savion’s NFT Preview #1, “My Voice,” available now, we follow his steps to the theater, rehearsing and proclaiming his place in the NFT space using dance as his voice.

In Savion’s NFT Preview #2, entitled “I Am,” available beginning December 16, Savion inspires us, through authentic self-discovery. He tells us that “In the beginning there is sound. I believe, that from this sound, ‘I Am’.”

Savion’s NFTs are a path for people to think differently and look at the world in a distinct way because every person is unique, and someone else’s journey should not be the benchmark of success.

Collectors of “My Voice” and “I Am” will also receive a Savion signed and numbered keepsake print suitable for framing. There is a collection size of 300 copies of each Preview.

Savion’s NFT Preview #1 and NFT Preview #2 will be available at www.AkoinNFT.io for .025 ETH (just under $110, each). The Previews can also be viewed at: www.AkoinNFT.io

Following the Preview NFTs, will be a collection of more significant and in-depth Savion Glover NFTs called “SoNg-ALoNgz”  The SoNg-ALoNgz, which include live instrumental performances and the spoken words of Savion pay homage to the masters of dance and music, past and present, that have inspired Savion throughout his artistic journey.
