Kimberly Akimbo is an unusual musical about an unusual girl. Kim suffers from an aging disease and although she is only a teenager she looks like a 72-year-old woman. The role is played by Tony-winning actress, Victoria Clark. She is terrific in the role and really does a really convincing job of playing a teenage girl on the cusp of adulthood trying to find her place in the world. She is joined by a handful of other actors doing an equally impressive job playing an array of other unique and interesting characters including Steven Boyer as her alcoholic father, Alli Mauzey as her pregnant mother, and Bonnie Milligan as her unsavory aunt and more. There is a lot more to all of these characters than meets the eye. They may sound like your typical family but they are definitely not. The show has some nice but not very memorable music. It doesn't necessarily add that much to the show which was originally a play of the same name. Overall, it is a quirky and engaging show that is definitely worth seeing for the performances.
