I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Our Upcoming Tenth Blogiversary

This week is a momentous one for more than one reason. First and foremost, of course, we will be getting a new president, and I for one could not be more thrilled about that. However, it is also significant in a much more personal way. This Wednesday, January 20, coincidentally the same day as Inauguration Day, will mark the tenth anniversary of our starting this blog. You can't imagine how amazing that is to us that we could actually do anything for ten years especially if you know anything about how lousy our family is with consistency. We don't have any traditions that we really keep up because we do things one year and then don't do them the next or we'll do them for a few years then stop.

Ten years ago, motivated by my daughter's newfound interest in writing, the movie Julie and Julia, and a friend's blog, my older daughter and I started this blog to spend time together doing something we enjoyed. At the time, it was very haphazard. We blogged about whatever was on our minds. We did not really follow a posting schedule we just blogged whenever we felt like it if we had something we wanted to talk about. We would pick a topic and each given our opinion of it. We still occasionally do that in our Monday Talking Topic posts. However, we do other types of posts as well including lists, posts we write together, and other posts including, when necessary, posts that I write entirely by myself which seems to happen more and more as my daughters get older and busier.

Gradually, we started doing other things talking about fun places to go and books and other products and lots and lots of theater. We started going to a lot of amazing places, doing a lot of amazing things, and meeting lots of amazing people. This blog and everything it has brought me has become the literal joy of my life aside from my family. It got me through some really tough times.

When the pandemic hit, it was hard. We had to change what we do and start posting about virtual visits to fun places and online shows but we adjusted. Still, this blog was there for us, and still, it helped me get through.

The pandemic had not been the first change we went through with our blog anyway.  It had just been the most extreme and the only one we had no control over. Over time, we had gradually added different weekly posts and occasionally dropped some as well. For a while, we had a weekly Friday post called Funny Fridays in which we talked about the fun things little kids say and do. Later for a while, we had a weekly Friday post called Funtivity Friday in which we posted about fun activities to do. We would consider bringing one of those back at least once or twice a month if not every week if enough people requested it, but so far that hasn't happened.

There have also been other changes. After a few years, I started blogging with my younger daughter instead of my older daughter. Eventually, my older daughter came back to the blog and started doing an occasional post for us. However, for the most part, it has been me and my younger daughter ever since.

Now it has been ten years, and I do not ever foresee a time when I would not want to be blogging. As a matter of fact, a few years back my husband asked me if we won the lottery would I stop blogging and the answer was a resounding "No!" Things will continue to change as they have over the years. If something as momentous as winning the lottery happened some things might change in even more significant ways. For instance, we would be able to appreciate our readers even more by having even more awesome giveaways for even more incredible prizes like tickets to Broadway shows because we would be able to afford to supply them ourselves. However, even if we are never able to do that, and even if there comes a time when neither of my daughters is interested in blogging with me anymore and we have to change our basic format even more, there will always be some form of this blog. It is a part of me and always will be.

Tune in tomorrow for Tips for Tuesday
