I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Let's Talk About Decorating

Me - It is fun to decorate. I l used to love to decorate my room. I was not allowed to rearrange my furniture though.  I really wanted to. I liked to decorate my walls. I put up pictures and posters and comics and things from magazines. I put up pretty much anything I liked. My favorite colors were purple, pink and blue, but not all shades of blue.  I like a lot of those colors in my room. Before, we moved I got to  pick the color of my walls. I also picked out my blanket. I think it's a crime to not be able to pick out your own blanket. My sister picked out Dora the Explorer  when she was little because when we got blankets she loved Dora. Then, when she didn't like Dora anymore she was sorry. We all tried to get her to pick out a blanket that did not have a character on it so she wouldn't get sick of it, but she wouldn't listen to us.  I was always reorganizing the things on my bed. I was always taking things out and putting things in. Sometimes, I reorganized my closets and drawers. I just had to be in the mood. I didn't get in the mood very much. All of that was when lived in a house not an apartment, however.  Some day, I would like to decorate a whole house. I don't want to be an interior decorator when I  graduate from college, however.

Mom - I hate decorating. My husband used to watch all these home shows where people's houses were decorated right down to the last corner. I wish I could afford to have somebody do that for me. Our house didn't even really have a style to it. It was just very eclectic. Also, while we were not exactly hoarders, we always had a lot of clutter around. I keep telling myself that as long as I had young children there was always going to be some degree of mess and or disorganization. Sometimes, it helped me to think of that. Sometimes, it didn't. Now, even though my kids are older and even though we live in an apartment it still doesn't seem eaiser to keep things organized and our home still isn't really decorated in any particular style. Sometimes, I would  liked to have one of those perfect houses where everything is decorated right down to the last detail. Do those houses really even exist outside of TV and magazines? Probably not. I mean even if there was a house like that, it could never stay that perfect at least not for long. It couldn't if there were really people living in it anyway. I would rather have a home that is lived in then one that just looks perfect.

And that's our view. What is your decorating style?

Tune in tomorrow for Tips for Tuesday.
