I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

A More Theater Monday Monthly Mash-up for February, 2018 Mr. Popper's Penguin's and Tao Drum Heart

For this month's mashup, we will both be talking about a couple of shows we've recently seen at State Theatre New Jersey.

Me  - My topic for this month is Mr. Popper's Penguins. Mr. Popper's Penguins was a cute show. It was based on the book of the same name. They used puppets for the Peguins and I liked them. They were my favorite thing about the show. My favorite character was Captain Cook the Penguin. He was the main penguin. The songs were cute but not very memorable. The acting, singing and dancing were all good. There wasn't really a set, but the costumes were nice. The show moved along kind of slowly which is probably fine for the small children to whom it was aimed. I had never read the book Mr. Popper's Penguins nor had I every seen a show based on the book. I did see the movie, but this version was very different. There are things to like about both versions. Young kids who like fun and/or energetic shows and/or animals especially penguins would enjoy this show.

Mom - My topic for this month is Tao Drum Heart. Tao Drum Heart is a show based on the ancient art of Japanese Taiko drumming. Although, taiko drums have been used in Japan for over 1400 years, the type of taiko drumming popular today has only been around since the 1950s. Tao Drum Heart is performed by Drum Tao. Drum Tao was started in 1993. It now consists of 43 performers that make up three different teams that perform all over the world. If you love loud music, you would probably enjoy this show. If you don't like loud noise, you will not like this show. The loudness of the show makes it a great choice for families with kids of all ages, as long as they are not bothered by or sensitive to extremely loud sounds, because the music is so lound that even if the kids are loud, they probably will not be heard over the music.
