I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

2016 Workshop Details:
Custom Stationery
1pm-4pm on 3/5, 4/2, 5/7, 6/7, 7/2, & 8/6

This three-hour workshop introduces participants to typesetting and letterpress printing of small runs of custom work. Students choose from a selection of the Museum's vintage lead type to design their own personalized stationery. Our team of printers guide the participants through the process of setting type, proofing on our Vandercook cylinder press, fine-tuning designs, and printing a final run on our 19th century tabletop platen press. Participants learn how to operate the presses themselves, and each person goes home with twenty personal stationery items. Tickets are $75 each - and make a great gift!

Fresh Prints
7pm-9pm on 2/25, 3/31, 4/28, 5/26, 6/30, 7/28, 8/25
Bowne Printers is pleased to announce that we are now open late the last Thursday of each month for Fresh Prints, a printing party that showcases multiple presses in the collection. For each event, our team of designers and printers launches a series of limited edition cards and prints that are on press all evening. Attendees have the opportunity to pull prints of their own and learn about the traditional craft of letterpresses. Admission is $10 ($8 for Museum Members), and visitors go home with a package of all three prints pulled live that night.

Woodtype
12noon-4pm on 2/21, 3/23
In this 4-hour workshop participants will design and print a broadside poster from moveable wood type. Bowne Printers will curate a sampling of wood type from the Museum's collection of over 100 fonts. After a brief introduction to the history and process of printing from handset type, students will have the chance to select type and spell out a word or phrase that fits into a specific line length. Rotating monthly, each member of Bowne Printers will lead the wood type workshop to coincide thematically with their own personal practice. Check back to see the specifics of each upcoming workshop. ********************************************************************************************************
