Two River Theater continues its run through August's Wilson century cycle with their 8th production of one of his plays. Their current show is The Piano Lesson, the fourth play in the cycle, which is set in the 1930s. The show last appeared on Broadway in 2022, with several actors from that production later appearing in a Netflix film adaptation in 2024.

The show revolves around a brother and sister's fight over an inherited piano. The instrument is both a family heirloom and a dark legacy that he wants to sell, and she wants to keep. An excellent cast takes on themes of race, identity, family trauma, and more in this stirring play.
