1) Disney's Frozen
Centenary Stage Company, the not-for-profit professional theatre company in residence on the campus of Centenary University, announces non-union open call auditions for its upcoming Family Holiday Spectacular production of Disney’s Frozen, The Broadway Musical.
Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Lackland Performing Arts Center, 715 Grand Ave., Hackettstown, New Jersey. Performances are scheduled for November 27 through December 13 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. The rehearsal schedule is to be determined.
Centenary Stage Company is seeking performers for all principal, supporting, and ensemble roles. Performers of diverse backgrounds and identities are encouraged to audition.
Children being considered will be seen from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM as part of Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop Stage Bound Production Program. These young performers will be considered directly from the current Stage Bound: Legally Blonde JR. auditions also scheduled for September 19, 2026 (see below) and will not need to schedule a separate audition appointment. Only children participating in the Stage Bound program will be eligible for consideration in Disney’s Frozen, The Musical.

2) Legally Blonde Jr.
Centenary Stage Company is excited to introduce Stage Bound: A Youth Production Program, a new youth theatre initiative from CSC’s Young Performers Workshop. Designed for aspiring performers ages 8 through 18, Stage Bound provides young artist with the opportunity to develop their skills in acting, singing, dancing, and creative collaboration through the rehearsal and performance process.
Stage Bound offers young performers a hands-on theatrical experience while providing quality training in a fun and supportive environment. Under the guidance of experienced theatre professionals, participants will experience the process of creating and performing in a fully produced musical theatre production. The program is designed to encourage creativity, discipline, personal growth, and collaboration while helping young artists build confidence and lasting friendships.
No previous theatre experience is necessary. Whether stepping onto the stage for the first time or continuing to develop existing skills, Stage Bound welcomes performers of all experience levels.
The inaugural Stage Bound production will be Legally Blonde Jr. Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00am through 12:00pm in the Dance Studio, located in the Lackland Performing Arts Center on the campus of Centenary University at 715 Grand Avenue in Hackettstown, NJ. Appointments are highly recommended, and walk-ins will be seen as time permits. All applicants must audition prior to registering for the program.
In addition to participating in the Stage Bound production, registered participants will also have the opportunity to be considered for casting in Centenary Stage Company’s mainstage holiday production of Disney’s Frozen, The Broadway Musical (see above). Casting in the mainstage production will be determined through auditions and is not guaranteed for all participants.

Josh already has a Disney show, but now he wants to be a movie star. Coach thinks he can get him there, but they’re going to have to rebuild his craft from the ground up. And it’s going well—at least, that’s what Josh thinks. After all, maybe it’s his acting, but maybe it’s just him.
An onstage experiment transforms the challenge of good acting into a live stunt, performed before an audience in real time. Its purpose is to explore: How much does what we learn in acting class truly matter? Can the audience perceive a difference? Or is the gap between top actors and those out of work mainly due to luck?

7) Crazy Mama: A True Story of Love and Madness
Laced with humor and pathos, Crazy Mama is a testament to the steely resilience of the human heart and the enduring nature of hope. Sharon races home from school a couple days after her 8th birthday to beat her teenaged brother Spikey to the last slice of birthday cake. When she enters the kitchen, she finds her mother wielding a knife. As the Sheriff escorts her mother away, the deputy tells Sharon that her mama is “not right in the head.” Crazy Mama is a one-woman tour-de-force about a woman’s decades-long dream of saving her mother from the soul-crushing grip of mental illness.

13) September L. Davis: The Apology Tour
Living legend, Broadway powerhouse, and five-time Tony Award nominee September L. Davis begins her Apology Tour, a theatrical experience that begs the question: can an insufferable diva redeem herself and become a decent human being, at least enough to work again and possibly win awards?
September L. Davis endured a difficult year featuring ongoing addiction issues, a messy public feud with the Tony-nominated Schmigadoon actress Ana Gasteyer, and an onstage accident resulting in a harrowing three-minute death. That accident is now the subject of an active attempted murder investigation in Canada. When asked to make a list of people who might want her dead, September’s list reached into the thousands. After years of avoidance, September finally faced the difficult question: “Is it me?” And so, The Apology Tour was born. A confessional musical retrospective that seeks redemption and forgiveness for past behavior, while also hopefully thwarting further murder attempts. And maybe help win some awards. But let's be very clear — it’s predominantly about redemption and doing the work in a very public way.
The Apology Tour invites celebrity guests, who September has wronged in the past, back for a night of apologies, memories and music. It’s an over-the-top love letter to all things Broadway, from stunt casting to cancel culture to the colorful personalities that make musical theater both joyful and, at times, challenging. It’s a sharp, absurd meditation on how we make amends and forgive in a cultural moment where neither seems to be trending.

16) American Symphony Orchestra presents Haydn & Beethoven
The American Classical Orchestra (ACO) begins its 42nd season with a concert led by Founder and Artistic Director Thomas Crawford on September 17 at Alice Tully Hall. New York City’s leading period instrument orchestra provides a rare opportunity for audiences to hear masterworks on such original instruments as valveless horns, gut strings, and wooden flutes. The opening program presents Haydn’s "Lord Nelson" Mass in D minor with award-winning soprano Shelén Hughes Camacho in her ACO debut, along with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1—the first of three Alice Tully Hall Celebrate Beethoven! concerts during 2026-27, continuing the Orchestra’s performance cycle of all nine symphonies begun last season to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death.

“Lou’s got class and an intoxicating vocal style.” That’s what audiences are saying about Jazz vocalist and pianist/composer Lou Watson. He projects a deep, resonant baritone. Singing originals, alongside timeless classics. Lou was educated at Livingston College of Rutgers University. There, he was exposed to jazz greats Kenny Barron, Larry Ridley, and Ted Dunbar. He would leave to tour with the classic R&B group “The Manhattans” as well as “The Drifters Review.” He enjoyed life on the road as he toured the concert circuit. Lou states, “It was great to bask in the rewards of a hit record, and to be treated like a world-class artist." With his jazz trio, Lou performs in nightclubs in the New York City area, serving up stylish renditions of traditional jazz standards. Lou has also performed on countless concert tours and road productions. Lou's R&B heritage blends jazz, funk, pop, and gospel. Watson’s consummate artistry is on full display on his CDs, It Doesn’t Matter and Taking a Chance on Love. A singer of standards and ballads, Lou’s voice warms the body and soothes the soul.

Bringing together Abraham’s distinctive movement language with an original collaborative score by acclaimed composers Jason Moran and Nico Muhly, White Space places 11 captivating dancers in a restless, thought-provoking world where reality and idealism collide.
At just over one hour, the work showcases Abraham’s signature blend of classical and contemporary dance with a hip-hop underbelly. The score is performed live by two pianists sharing one piano, while echoes of pre-recorded hip-hop drive the movement and heighten the tension between the work’s contrasting worlds.

25) Sarah Sense: Land, Line, Blood Memory
Bruce Silverstein Gallery is pleased to announce Sarah Sense: Land, Line, Blood, Memory, the gallery’s third solo exhibition of work by Chitimacha/Choctaw artist Sarah Sense (b. 1980), who for more than two decades, has been a defining voice in contemporary photography. Comprising of more than twenty new photo-weavings made from the artist’s contemporary landscape photographs, archival documents, historical images, maps, printed bamboo and rice papers, cotton thread, ribbon, and hand-prepared rivercane, the exhibition considers the relationship between Indigenous people and ancestral land and the systems of representation, ownership, and erasure that have attempted to sever that connection.
Her latest series, Land, Line, Blood, Memory, provides a framework for the intertwined histories embedded throughout the work. In Sense’s Artist Statement she writes, “Land, Line, Blood, Memory is about connecting to ancestry through basket weaving and generational healing. Woven photographs intertwine images of land that hold memory, baskets that hold, ancestry, historical photography that tell stories, and maps that draw lines.” (For the full Statement, click here.)

Part lecture, part performance, Reservoir weaves scientific data and embodied testimony, asking what it means to inherit a crisis that is at once ecological, political, and deeply personal. Set against the water crisis of Santiago de Chile, the piece moves between the retreat of Andean glaciers and a legal architecture few outside Chile know exists: a water code, enacted under dictatorship, that made Chile the only country in the world where water is privatized.

Lenio Kaklea's The Birds
L’Alliance New York announces the New York premiere of Lenio Kaklea’s The Birds co-presented with PS21: Center for Contemporary Performance as part of the 2026 Crossing The Line Festival.
Returning to Crossing The Line after Αγρίμι / Fauve in 2024, choreographer Lenio Kaklea continues her exploration of ecology through dance. In The Birds, she takes inspiration from the ways in which birds structure their behavior through dance and song, from mating rituals to hunting patterns. In recreating these behaviors, Kaklea reflects on the desire to be seen and heard, which is shared across species, from birds to humans. Birds also represent a powerful figure of control, in the form of the looming birds of prey. Bright colors, acrobatics and energetic movements contrast with the threat of being watched, as Kaklea questions the precarious equilibrium between freedom and subjugation.

This fall, TŌN embarks on a multi-year project exploring the music of 19th-century German composer Friedrich Gernsheim. Once a leading figure of the European music scene, his legacy was all but erased by the Nazi regime in the 1930s, leaving his extensive body of work largely unheard today. TŌN seeks to help restore his legacy through a series of orchestra and chamber concerts featuring three U.S. premieres and one NY premiere, in addition to a panel discussion.

This September, the American Museum of Natural History will offer a slate of programming in conjunction with Climate Week NYC, an annual gathering of global leaders, activists, and organizations.
Poetry for Our Planet
Tuesday, September 15, 6–8:30 pm
Enjoy poetry readings, take a moment to write and reflect, and join a discussion on climate with celebrated poets Jane Hirshfield, Kimiko Hahn, and Brandon Kilbourne, who is featured in the Museum’s Black in Natural History Museums exhibition. This after-hours program will unite poetry, climate arts, and community building with readings from each of the poets, an opportunity to participate in a guided writing exercise facilitated by David Hassler, executive director of the Wick Poetry Center, and a panel conversation among the poets and Ana Luz Porzecanski, director of the Museum’s Center for Biodiversity and Conservation, about how science, nature, and art come together to inspire change, moderated by Miranda Massie, director of the Climate Museum.
Carnival at the Museum: A Climate Fete

Keep the spirit of Carnival alive beyond Labor Day weekend at this festive evening event, where Caribbean culture, climate leadership, and community resilience come together. This festival will include music from DJ Young Chow and DJ Bembona, food offerings from Caribbean chefs and local vendors, and Lightning Lectures from Caribbeans for Climate highlighting critical climate issues. Through performances, culinary experiences, interactive programming on extreme weather, and conversations with scientists and community leaders, this festival will create a dynamic space to explore the deep connections between Caribbean traditions, biodiversity, and climate action.
This program is for ages 21+.
When I Am Among the Trees
Opens Friday, September 18
New York City is home to millions of people—and millions of trees. We depend on them to provide shade, keep sidewalks cool, support wildlife, absorb water, and filter air pollution. This installation in the Museum’s North Galleria will extend the Arthur Ross Terrace inside with live native trees, benches, a birdsong soundscape, information about New York City’s urban forests, and profiles of people taking action to protect and grow the city’s canopy. When I Am Among the Trees is included with general admission.
ClimateFest
Saturday, September 26, 11 am–4 pm
This all-ages event brings the science of climate change and its impact on human health to life through hands-on activities, pop-up presentations, and live demonstrations across the Museum. Among the engagements, visitors will be able to explore the Museum’s Climate Learning Lab to find out about climate, climate change, and what we can do to address our warming planet; experience The Garden, an immersive, sensory-friendly outdoor theater performance for children ages five and under and their caregivers; learn about the incredible box turtle; and much more. ClimateFest is free for Museum Members or included with general admission.

Join the mischievous Monkey King as he takes on a mountain of fire! When Monk Tang and his disciples find their journey blocked by a blazing fire mountain, they learn that only a magical fan can put out the flames—but the fan's owner, the powerful Iron Fan Princess, has no intention of lending it out. Will the disciples' powers of transformation, persuasion, and puppet martial arts be enough to win the fan and save the day? Galapagos Puppet Theater brings this beloved episode of Journey to the West, the 400-year-old Chinese epic, to life through the delicate and acrobatic art of Bu Dai Xi (Taiwanese hand puppetry). Expressive silk scarves and vividly crafted puppets move to live music on erhu, bamboo flute, and percussion, courtesy of celebrated folk musician Jimmy Zhao and his ensemble. It's a 40-minute journey through martial arts, mischief, and magic!

BY CELEBRATIONS THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
Tony Award-winning producers Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens, and Hunter Arnold are proud to announce that the three-time Best Revival Award-winning production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is about to hit a major milestone at the Westside Theatre: matching the original 1982 Orpheum production's total performance count of 2,210 and becoming the longest-running production in the show's history. The milestone arrives just in time for Little Shop Day (September 21), and to celebrate the beloved show's incredible legacy, a month-long lineup of events and activations will take place throughout September.
Milestone celebration activities of the month include:
- MUSHNIK & SON, OPEN FOR BUSINESS: In Partnership with Broadway.com, Little Shop of Horrors takes over Starbright Floral Design (140 W 26th St), creating a real-life Mushnik & Son Flower Shop open to the public beginning September 10th, and continuing through the end of the month. Starbright Floral Design, known as The Official Florist of the City that Never Sleeps, is a family-owned flower shop and event floral production company that has been proud to serve NYC since 1994. Known for creative floral designs and exceptional customer service, Starbright's flowers can be found in the most iconic venues, historic hotels, premiere offices, as well as private residences throughout New York.
- SKID ROW STORIES: From September 22–26, the celebration continues after the curtain falls, with a week-long series of post-show talkbacks exploring the many facets of Little Shop of Horrors and its enduring legacy — from the show's iconic Seymours, Audreys, Dentists, and puppets, to its place in Black theater history. - LITTLE SHOP OF HOMAGE: A special, collectors-edition Playbill cover is now available at the theater throughout the month of September, featuring a design that honors the original Orpheum production’s iconic Showbill.

41) MORNINGSIDE LIGHTS

For fifteen years, MORNINGSIDE LIGHTS—produced by the Arts Initiative and Miller Theatre at Columbia University—has brought neighbors, students, families, and artists together to create luminous lanterns that transform Morningside Park into a celebration of collective creativity. Guided each year by Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles of Processional Arts Workshop (the creative force behind the spectacular, giant-puppet performances that lead New York's iconic Village Halloween Parade), thousands of participants have designed, shaped, colored, and built lanterns inspired by themes that invite reflection, imagination, and discovery.
This year's theme is A Common Thread—an exploration of the visual patterns and motifs that surround us, in textiles, domestic adornments, architecture, and engineered spaces. Workshop participants will create and combine luminous patterned panels into lanterns inspired by the geometry of American quilts. A winding red line will form a visual line that links each design throughout the final procession—a common thread that connects the human fabric across our rich and varied differences.

43) FREE SPORTS PROGRAMS FOR NYC YOUTH, SENIORS IN ALL FIVE BOROUGHS RETURN THIS FALL
SIGN UP TODAY FOR GOLF, SOCCER, TENNIS AND TRACK WITH CITY PARKS FOUNDATION
As Fall approaches, City Parks Foundation is preparing for its next season of free youth sports at parks across the five boroughs. Programming through CityParks Play offers thousands of young people in New York City opportunities to stay active, build skills, and connect with their communities. Running September through November, all programs are free and open to young people ages 6–17 and feature tennis, soccer, track & field, and golf. Additionally, the Girls Forward program will continue, an initiative created in partnership with Nike that creates a supportive, empowering environment for teenage girls to play and grow through sport. Seniors aged 60+ are also invited to participate in free tennis, tai chi, yoga, and more throughout the five boroughs.
Registration is now open and will remain open throughout the fall on a rolling basis until programs are full. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie, Hasbro has created “Optimus Prime: Awakening,” as a special animated short as part of its broader anniversary brand celebration. The short will be presented following select anniversary screenings of the original 1986 film.
Optimus Prime: Awakening” is a fully realized, 12-minute animated short designed as a love letter to the Transformers community and the late Peter Cullen, the legendary talent and voice of Optimus Prime.
The animated short delivers emotional storytelling, electric action, and new performances by legends Frank Welker as Megatron/Soundwave and Peter Cullen in his final original voice performance as Optimus Prime.
