I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

More Theater Monday - Legally Blonde The Musical

We were given complimentary tickets to Legally Blonde, the musical for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Legally Blonde The Musical

Where: State Theatre New Jersey
             15 Livingston Ave.
             New Brunswick, NJ

When: This event took place on April 28 - 30, 2023

We recently had the opportunity to see the touring production of Legally Blonde The Musical at its stop at the State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick, NJ. Although the show was not recently on Broadway, these days apparently anything goes in touring productions, and you never know what is going to show up on a tour. That is a good thing, however, in that it does give more people more opportunity to see more shows.

Although the premise of a beauty-obsessed girl deciding to follow her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School to impress him and win him back, seems far-fetched if you don't really think about how realistic it is (or isn't), it is an amusing show with some fun songs. The most memorable song in the show is the opening number, Omigod You Guys.

The acting and singing in this version of the show were good. The lead actress, Hannah Bonnett's voice was a bit nasally though. Also, her wig didn't seem to be sitting on her head quite right throughout the show which was a bit distracting.

Animal lovers (like ourselves) really appreciated the cute dog that appeared in the show. In the Broadway version, there were two dogs and they were both trained. In this touring version, only one of the dogs actually appeared on stage, and that dog clearly was not trained because it was just carried all over the stage. However, that didn't make it any less adorable of a dog.

All in all, it was a decent production and an enjoyable addition to State Theatre New Jersey's 2023 Broadway Series. The next show in the series will be Jesus Christ Superstar from June 9 - June 11. For more about that or to purchase tickets, visit https://my.stnj.org/overview/19291

They have also recently announced their 2023/2024 Broadway Series, for more about that or to get a subscription (individual tickets have not gone on sale yet), visit www.stnj.org/seasontickets.
