The town of Spring Lake, New Jersey is a coastal resort that was formed from parts of Wall Township back in 1892. The Spring Lake Historical Society Museum is a small museum located on the second floor of the Spring Lake Municipal Building that is devoted to everything about the Spring Lake area. The major part of the museum is a chronologically arranged exhibit devoted to the history of the town. It includes sections on the indigenous inhabitants of the area, early settlers in the area, the Victorian era, and more right up to the present. There is also a smaller gallery with changing exhibits. Exhibits in this gallery have previously included one on Spring Lake's sports teams and currently includes exhibits on Spring Lake Mayors and the Spring Lake Department of Public Works.
The Spring Lake Historical Society is open from May through November on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM only or by appointment. There is no entry fee required. For more information visit springlakehistoricalsociety.org or call 732-449- 0772.
