New York, NY

Me - The Fashion and Physique exhibit at the Museum at FIT was nice. However, I didn't really like most of the outfits. They were strange or they had strange padding or the patterns were too busy or they looked uncomfortable or something. Some of the clothes were nice at least they looked nice. There was a coat that reminded me of spies. There were also some sort of nice dresses including an off white sleeveless dress with flowers. I don't really like sleeveless dresses that much so I probably wouldn't wear something like that. There was a short flowery dress that reminded me of something they would wear in The Brady Bunch. There was a really itching looking sweater set. There was a pretty gold dress. I liked the color a lot. There was an uncomfortable looking old fashioned dress that was a really pretty purplish pink color. Over all, the Fashion and Physique exhibit was interesting to look at but mostly I am glad I don't have to wear those clothes.
Mom - Fashion and Physique the current exhibit at the Museum at FIT is about changing styles with regard to representation of the body. The exhibit covers the period of time from the 18th century when corsets for narrow waists were all the rage through today when almost anything goes and clothes are made in a variety of styles and sizes to fit anyone's tastes and/or needs. Items in the collection include old fashioned velvet gowns, glittery flapper dresses, a flowery mini dress and even the dress that Christian Siriano, designed for Leslie Jones to wear to the Ghostbusters premiere. Other items include corsets, the Wonderbra, and Spanx. There are even a few items of men's clothing including a muscles shirt There are also clippings, photographs and videos. The exhibit is not very large in area, but it consists of quite a lot of items. If you just want to go through and get an overview of the collection, it should not take you very long. However, if you want to carefully observe every outfit and other item on display and read all the written material available, it will take much longer. The exhibit like all Museum at FIT exhibits is free and open to all.
