I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Me - Today I am recommending Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. It's a classic book so you've probably heard of it. It was not what I was expecting. It was much more serious than I thought it would be.  I thought it would be more like a Kids Disney movie in book form although I had never actually seen Disney's Peter Pan. I liked the story though. It was very imaginative. I like things that are imaginative.  I especially liked the character of Wendy. She is really kind. She is a good role model the way she takes care of the boys. People who like classic fairytales that involve things like pirates, fairies, and mermaids would enjoy this book.

Mom - Today in the midst of the National Hockey League's playoff season, I am recommending three hockey related books.

The first is My First Book of Hockey. This book for young children teaches the basics of a hockey in a fun way with illustrations on every page. Each page also contains a rookie character who is learning along with the reader. It is part of a series of My First sports books that also includes baseball, football, soccer and lacrosse.

The second book is  great for middle grade kids or anyone who wants to learn about the history of hockey. It compares everything about hockey from its' beginnings to the present time. What were hockey masks like in every decade? What players dominated in each decade? How did the rules of the game change over time? These are just a few of the fascinating topics that are discussed in this book. If you want to learn about hockey history without reading a really long book about it, this book is perfect because it covers a lot of material in a very condensed manner. Visually it is beautiful too, full of great pictures and drawings.

The third book is Sports Ilustrated Hockey's Greatest. This book is more for teenagers and adults. It is a book of hockey top ten lists as chosen by the editors of Sports Illustrated. The lists are mostly related to specific players. It breaks down every position and names the ten greatests players in history at that position. It also includes a breakdown of why that players was chosen, facts about each player and all or part of  a newspaper article that was written about that player during his playing time. There are also some other hockey related top ten lists including the ten greatest coaches and the ten greatest franchises as well as other lists like the ten greatest hockey games of all time, the ten greatest hockey rivalries and more. There are even a few crazy categories like the ten greatest beards in hockey. Any super hockey fan or any person who wants to learn more about hockey's greatest players, teams and more won't want to miss this book. This book is also full of beautiful pictures. It is a great addition to any sports loving household's library.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
