Mom's view: Desperate Measures is Shakespeare's Measure for Measure updated and reset in the Wild West. Even if you don't like Shakespeare, you should still like this hilarious show. The acting is great. The songs are catchy, and they actually stay in your head after you've seen the show. A few of the standout songs are the comical Just for You and the sweet It's a Beautiful Day for a Lifelong Commitment. The latter is a mouthful of a title, but it is a really good song. The set and costumes are terrific. The rhyming couplets throughout the show get old after a while. We know the show is based on Shakespeare, it is not necessary to keep reminding us. However, if you can get past that, you will really enjoy this show. It's not a good show for young children, however due to the subject matter. For teens and above, however, the show is great. It draws you in from the moment you walk into the theater and hear the sounds of cattle mooing and trains rustling by. Right away, you really feel like you are in the old west. By the time you hear the lively opening number, The Ballad of Johnny Blood, you're pumped up for a rollicking good time in the old west. This show certainly delivers that in spades. You won't want to miss it!
