I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Madalena Santos Reinbolt: A Head Full of Planets

What:
Madalena Santos Reinbolt: A Head Full of Planets

Where: American Folk Art Museum
             2 Lincoln Sq.
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Through May 25, 2025

The current exhibit, A Head Full of Planets, at the American Folk Art Museum features the work of Brazilian artist, Madalena Santos Reinbolt. Santos Reinbolt was active from the 1950s through the 1970s.  The exhibit's title refers to a Portuguese expression that means something like knowledge that spans multiple areas. The artist allegedly referred to this saying in one of the few interviews she is known to have given.

Santo Reinbolt's work included paintings and quadros de la wool (wool or embroidered paintings). Forty-two of her works in total are on display. They are beautiful, vibrant, and colorful, focusing on spirituality and religion, women in their daily life, and more.

The exhibit will remain on display through May 25, 2025, only. Once it ends, the museum will close temporarily for the summer as it begins a planned renovation project. It is expected to reopen to the public in late September of  2025, although the renovations won't be fully completed yet. The museum shop, however, will still be open through June 1.

And that's our view. For more about Madalena Santos Reinblot: A Head Full of Planets, visit https://folkartmuseum.org/exhibitions/madalena-santos-reinbolt-a-head-full-of-planets.
