I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where: 59E59 Theaters
             59 E. 59 St.
             New York, NY

Who: Recommended for Ages 12 and Up

Lucy Stevens quite masterfully slips into the skin of the legendary Gertrude Lawrence to tell the actor's story in her own words. Punctuated by songs covering the range of her career, this one-woman play with music never lags for a minute. Stevens has more than the acting chops to pull off the role; her vocal skills are more than up to the task as well. Her voice is quite lovely. It's a joy to hear her sing such well-known songs associated with Lawrence as "On the Sunny Side of the Street", "The Saga of Jenny", "Shall We Dance?", and more, along with many less well-known songs associated with the performer.

You don't have to be familiar with Gertrude Lawrence or have seen her work to enjoy this show. How closely she does or doesn't capture the celebrated performer doesn't really matter. This is a performance that stands on its own merits.

And that's our view. For more about Gertrude Lawrence: A Lovely Way tp Spend an Evening or to purchase tickets, visit www.59e59.org/shows/show-detail/gertrude-lawrence-a-lovely-way-to-spend-an-evening.
