I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: Koala A Natural History and an Uncertain Future & Series: Pig Little Lies

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any products, and/or visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: Koala A Natural History and an Uncertain Future

Today we are recommending Koala A  Natural History and An Uncertain Future by Danielle Clode. Everything you could ever want to know about koalas you can find in this book. It covers their evolutionary history, their biology, their relationship to humans, and more. Most importantly it delves deeply into the things that threaten their survival and that make them an endangered species.

At times the book can get too technical and too deep into the science. Plus,  if you are extremely sensitive to the plight of endangered animals or koalas in particular, and or the terrible things that climate change is doing to this planet, this book will probably trigger you. However, it is fascinating to learn about these beloved creatures. Clode's love for her subject shines through in every chapter as well.

If you are interested in looking at cute pictures of koalas, unfortunately, you won't find that here. The only picture is the adorable one on the cover as shown above. More pictures might have made the book more appealing to some people. However. it is still quite a powerful book that really makes you think not only about the plight of koalas but about the state of the entire world and humanity's role in it in particular.

Series: Pig Little Lies

Today we are recommending Pig Little Lies. Pig Little Lies is a five-episode series that can be watched for free on Unchained TV regarding the rescue of a family of pigs. Unchained TV is a digital TV network founded by newswoman, Jane Velez Mitchell that focuses on animal rights and the vegan lifestyle.

Every episode of the series is under fifteen minutes, and the entire series can be watched in under two hours, The show's main purpose is to refute the myth that there is such a thing as a teacup pig and prevent the dumping of pigs in shelters by disillusioned pig owners when their pets get too big for them to handle and/or fit in their home or apartment.

Aside from its noble mission, there is plenty to like in this series. The pigs are adorable even when they are grown and it can be quite amusing to watch them at times. However, there may be some moments that may trigger especially sensitive animal lovers. The most triggering aspect of all does not have to do with the pigs though and for the most part this particular family of pigs is both happy and lucky.
