I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Interesting Facts About United States Presidents


Here are some interesting facts about our first 23 US Presidents:

1) George Washington finished his formal schooling when he was 11.

2) John Adams was the first President to live in the Whitehouse.

3) Thomas Jefferson helped popularize ice cream in the United States.

4) James Madison once lost an election because he didn't provide free alcohol to voters.

5) James Monroe had one of his presidential portraits painted by Samuel Morse, the inventor of Morse code.

6) John Quincy Adam's presidency was the only one decided by the House of Representatives.

7) Andrew Jackson was the target of the first attempted presidential assassination

8) Martin Van Buren was the first president to be born as a citizen of the United States.

9) William Henry Harrison wanted to be a doctor but he dropped out of medical school because he couldn't afford the tuition.

10) John Tyler was largely responsible for the annexation of Texas.

11)  James Polk didn't start his formal education until he was 18.

12) Zachary Taylor refused to take the oath of office because he was inaugurated on a Sunday.

13) Millard Fillmore did not have a vice president.

14) Franklin Pierce had 3 sons all of whom died before the age of 12.

15) James Buchanan unsuccessfully tried to buy Cuba from Spain.

16) Abraham Lincoln did not have middle name.

17) Andrew Johnson was responsible for the purchase of Alaska.

18) Ulysses Grant was supposed to be at the theater with Lincoln on the night Lincoln was assassinated.

19) Rutherford Hayes was injured several times in the civil war.

20) James Garfield became the president of Williams College at only 26.

21) Chester Arthur was the first president accused of not being born in the United States.

22) Grover Cleveland hired someone else to take his place in fighting the Civil War.

23) Benjamin Harrison was the first president to have electricity in the White House.

24) See #22 as Grover Cleveland was the only President to serve two nonconsecutive terms.
