I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

More Theater Monday - Sticks & Stones

What: Sticks & Stones

Where:Availabe for Streaming at broadwaycares.org/pre-event/sticks-and-stones/

Who: Tweens and Up

When: Available for Streaming Through October 20, 2020 Only

In the tradition of shows like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar, the David and Goliath story is the latest to be adapted as a musical. Now a virtual concert version of this new musical, Sticks & Stones, is available for streaming for a limited time only. The show is meant to draw attention to the critical issue of teen bullying. The role of David is played by Joshua Colley whose previous roles have included young Calgero in A Bronx Tale on Broadway as well as the title role in the York Theater's production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown. He is joined by Audra McDonald, Javier Munoz, George Salazar, and Mykel Kilgore in featured roles along with an ensemble of over one hundred young performers from around the world who were found through an online search.

In addition to raising awareness of the issue of bulling, the event is meant to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and the Born This Way Foundation. Viewers are encouraged to give what they can although no specific donation is required to view the concert.

The songs are meaningful especially the final song, Choose To Be Kind, which should be a motto that far more people live by. The talent abounds and is not just evidenced by the more well-know performers participating in the project. Sticks & Bones the concert is definitely worth a look and a listen.
