I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - 21 Chump Street

What: 21 Chump Street

Where: Available on YouTube

Who: Teens and Up

Between In the Heights and Hamilton, there was 21 Chump Street, a 14-minute musical written by Lyn Manuel Miranda. The show which is based on true story is about a high school kid who is busted for selling drugs that he obtains to impress an undercover police officer who has come to his school to bust a student drug ring. The show was written for and performed as part of This American Life radio program's live show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in 2014. Although the show is not exactly lighthearted and its subject matter makes it inappropriate for young children, the catchy songs are definitely up to Mr. Miranda's usual par. The cast is superb as well. The show stars Anthony Ramos, who would later go on to play John Lauren and Phillip Hamilton in Miranda's Hamilton as well as Lindsay Mendez,  who would go on to win a Tony award for her work in Carousel in 2018. The small ensemble cast includes Alex Boniello of Dear Evan Hansen and Gerard Canonico of Be More Chill. All in all, if you only have a little bit of time and you want to see a whole musical written and performed by top level talent performing at their usual level of excellence, you won't want to miss 21 Chump Street.

And that's our view.

Tune in Sunday for this week's Sunday Scoop.
