I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Love in Hate in Nation

We were given complimentary tickets to Love in Hate Nation for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Love in Hate Nation

Where: Two River Theater
             21 Bridge Ave.
             Red Bank, NJ

Who: Recommended for Ages 15 and Up

When: Through December 1, 2019

Me - Love in Hate Nation was an amazing show. It was written by Joe Iconis, AKA, human sunshine. It's about a girl named Susannah who is sent to a Juvey for girls run by the horrid, Miss. Asp, who is afraid of social change and thinks that women should be the perfect wives and mothers rather than having any independence. Therefore, when Susannah and another one of the girls begin to fall in love, it causes  trouble for everyone. All of the music in the show was incredible as was the acting and singing. Lauren Marcus in particular stood out to me since she was one of my favorite actresses already, and I had never imagined her in a role like Miss. Asp. This show was the perfect combination of sweet, funny, romantic and heartbreaking, and I would highly recommend it.

Mom - Joe Iconis' latest show Love in Hate Nation is a bad girl movie in musical form.  It is full of fun songs and interesting characters. Even if you don't leave the theater singing the songs, you will definitely want to hear them again. They are at least as good as the songs in Be More Chill, Mr. Iconis previous show at Two River Theater whose viral soundtrack ultimately took the show straight to Broadway. The acting, led by Amina Faye as Susannah Son, is terrific. There is not a weak link in the cast. The central romance between Susannah and the appropriately named Sheila Naill is sweet in a noncloying way. Their duets are some of the highlights of the show. The rousing anthem Revolution Song is another. The show's message of acceptance  and love over hate is very timely and something the world needs more than ever right now.

And that's our view. For more about Love in Hate Nation or to purchase tickets, visit https://tworivertheater.org/whats-on/loveinhatenation/.

Tune in Saturday for Still More Theater Saturday.
