Books: Angel's Serenade
Mom - Today I am recommending Angel's Serenade by Linda Weaver Clarke. This is a delightfully sweet and tender story. Emmeline Scott is not interested in a relationship except with a man who is a good fit not only for herself but for the young niece and nephew she is raising. Young Sam and Josie immediately take to the new doctor in town, Lucas Golden. Lucas is equally enchanted by the beautiful angel music he hears everynight when Emmeline plays her piano. It is inevitable that these two should get together. If you love a good historic romance you will really enjoy this one. It will satisfy both your heart and mind. This book is the second book in the Willow Valley Historical Romance series and features appearances from the couple at the center of the first book in the series, Felicity and Nicholas. For more about the first book in the series, One Last Dance, see our previous post Tips for Tuesday - Books: One Last Dance. We will be talking about the third book in the series A Pleasant Rivalry next week.
Movies: Scandalous the Untold Story of the National Enquirer
Mom - Today I am recommending Scandalous the Untold Story of the National Enquirer. If you thought the National Enquirer was a disreputable paper, you don't know the half of it. This documentary is very eye opening and explains a lot about the current state of the world. It delves not only into the salaciousness of the Enquirer's brand of journalism and the way it panders to the public's baser instincts, but also its predatory practices, and the unfairness of its coverage. This unfairness is particularly highlighted in the way certain celebrities are able to block stories about themselves and in the handling of the 2016 election in which favorable stories about Donald Trump and unfavorable stories about Hilary Clinton were promoted through the paper. If you are concerned about what is happening in the world now and the way this country is heading, this film will shock you to your core and hopefully anger you enough to motivate you to go out and try to make a difference at least by excercising your right to vote in the next election.
And that's Mom's view. Scandalous will be released in movie theaters this Friday September 15, 2019.
Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
