I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: Sunset Beach & The Ultimate Droodles

We may have been given one or more of the books mentioned below for free for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: Sunset Beach and The Ultimate Droodles

Mom - Today I am recommending two books.

First I am recommending Sunset Beach by Mary Kay Andrews. When Drue's mother dies she moves into the beachhouse she inheirited  and goes to work for her father's law firm. When Drue feels that the law firm did not do right by a former client, she finds herself involved in the mystery surrounding a hotel maid's death while at the same time a file she discovers in her attic embroils her in a mysterious disappearance that happened years ago. This light and breezy mystery is really fun to read. Drue is a really spunky and likeable character, and the story really draws you in and keeps you wanting to read more. It is the perfect book for a day at the beach or anywhere you find yourself with time for a quick read.

The second book I am recommending is The Ultimate Droodles Compendium  the absurdly complete collection of all the classic zany creations of Roger Price. A Droodle is a simple drawing that represents something else. A  drawing of circle with feet it under can be a bubble gum champ, a drawing of a coat filled with circles can be a coat owned by a rich moth and more. Roger Price was known for his Droodles, he created them for a syndicated column, for advertisements, and for a brief period of time even for a TV show. During his lifetime, he put out several books of Droodles. Now, his collected Droodles have been republished in this great book. This book full of delightfully amusing drawings is great for both longtime lover's of droodles and for those who  have yet to discover droodles. No matter how you chose to go through this book; reading the captions right away, trying to guess what the pictures are before you read the captions, or making up your own captions, this book is an extremely entertaining read.

And that's Mom's view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.

  1. I think we might have one of her books. I read a similar book by a similar author a while back, and it was really nice to read about likable people with relatively manageable problems!
