Thirteen one-of-a-kind award-winning Once Upon A Nation Storytelling Benches are scattered all over Philadelphia’s Historic District, telling riveting stories of our nation’s history in the places where they actually happened. Specially-trained, uniformed storytellers delight and entertain with free, short 3-to-5-minute stories while sharing the secrets of Philadelphia’s and America’s history. Children can pick up a Story Flag at any storytelling bench, then collect a star from every storyteller on their journey. Theater Breaking Through Barriers (Samuel D. Hunter’s The Healing) kicks off its 40th Anniversary season with the World Premiere of PUBLIC SERVANT by Bekah Brunstetter (NBC’s Emmy-winning drama This Is Us and the just announced Oklahoma TV series). Directed by Geordie Broadwater, the production will star Chris Henry Coffey (Broadway’s Bronx Bombers, David Schwimmer’s Trust opposite Clive Owen and Viola Davis), Christine Bruno (Jose Rivera’s adaption of The Maids, Bekah Brunstetter’s Forgotten Corners of Your Dark, Dark Place with TBTB) and newcomer Anna Lentz in her Off-Broadway debut. The play is the second part of a trilogy of plays by Brunstetter that kicked off with The Cake in February at Manhattan Theatre Club. Previews for PUBLIC SERVANT begin May 25 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre with opening night on Thursday, June 6.
Statue Cruises- the official and only authorized concessioner for ferry service to the Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island- announced extended operating hours for the peak summer season. Beginning Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 25th, service to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from Battery Park in lower Manhattan and Liberty State Park in Jersey City will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the last boat departing Battery Park and Liberty State Park at 5 p.m. (instead of 3:30 p.m.) daily through Labor Day. Admission to the new Statue of Liberty Museum is also included with every Statue Cruises ticket.
The new museum opened Thursday, May 16th and thousands of tourists and locals will have additional time to explore the latest addition to Liberty Island. The museum is a lasting tribute to Lady Liberty, complete with an Immersive Theater telling the Statue’s storied history, an experience showcasing the workshop where Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi built the Statue of Liberty and an inspiration gallery where guests can personally reflect on their experience and what the Statue means to them. The museum is now also home to the original torch of Lady Liberty.
Ridership to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island has averaged 4.4 million annual visitors the past few years. With strong visitor interest in the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island expected to continue, Statue Cruises recommends the following top five tips for traveling to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island this summer:

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents the May Panel and Presentation, It Doesn't Have to Be #MeToo: Sexual Harassment Education and Prevention for Theater on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 7:30pm (networking at 7pm) at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 W. 46th Street, NYC. TRU's heard the stories of #MeToo victims at the hands of politicians, television and radio personalities, film directors and celebrities. In the theatre, They have their own #MeToo stories to share. The casting couch is very real and not just reserved for women - men have their own stories! This workshop is three-fold-- going from the personal, to educational, to advocacy; followed by a Q & A. Artists will share stories of harassment and misconduct; followed by a power point presentation recognizing and fighting harassment; followed by a panel of representatives from Dramatists Guild, ART-New York and the Actors Fund who will share what they are doing to empower their members and prevent harassment, misconduct or assault in the theatrical workspace.
Content Warning: This session will include conversations about sexual harassment and abuse. While no graphic details will be shared, we offer this warning in case conversations of this nature are a trigger for any guests. Your self-care is our priority and you may step out of the event at any time if you are uncomfortable.
Doors open at 7:00pm for networking and refreshments, roundtable introductions of everyone in the room will start at 7:30pm - come prepared with your best 30-second summary of who you are, and what you need. The Printed Port illuminates an industry central to the development of New York City: job printing. Printers were a mammoth force in the 19th-century Port of New York; they produced all manner of printed materials for the businesses flourishing on South Street, including those in the maritime trades. The South Street Seaport Museum's printing office, Bowne & Co., was one of hundreds of shops that made up New York's first neighborhood. The exhibition features original and reproduced artifacts from the South Street Seaport Museum's collection, including working printing presses. A survey of printed ephemera presents the tools and techniques involved in their production. NEW: Cruise on W.O. Decker
Take a 45-minute ride on New York's last working New-York-built wooden tugboat W.O. Decker and see the lower Manhattan skyline like never before. For the first time, Decker will be available for public sails on Saturdays and Sundays beginning May 25. Pioneer Sailing Season 2019
Sail the New York Harbor aboard the 1885 Schooner Pioneer, an award-winning sail training vessel teaching volunteers of all kinds, traditional maritime skills, and the art of tall ship sailing. Visitors can board Pioneer for 2-hour or 3-hour day and evening cruises as she sails New York Harbor May through October. Pioneer offers special sails and programs and is available for private charter throughout her season. On-Going Exhibition:
Millions: Migrants and Millionaires aboard the Great Liners, 1900-1914, familiarizes viewers with passenger life aboard ocean liners, the defining differences between travel for wealthy Americans in First Class and future Americans immigrating to the United States in Third Class, and the continuing importance that immigration plays in American history. Millions is one of the first exhibitions to examine, side-by-side, the dichotomy between First Class and Third-Class passengers aboard ocean liners in the early 20th century. From 1900 to 1914, nearly 13 million immigrants traveling in Third Class arrived in the United States. During this same period, America's wealthiest citizens, totaling no more than a hundred thousand passengers each year, traveled to Europe in First Class, spending over $11.5 billion (2017) on luxury vacations. Even though First Class and Third Class sailed on the same ships, their journeys were worlds apart. This exhibition will feature both original and reproduced artifacts from the South Street Seaport Museum's permanent collection including ocean liner memorabilia and ephemera, ceramics, and luggage trunks from both immigrants and First-Class passengers. The exhibition will highlight a few ship models of New York Harbor working vessels that played critical roles in immigration, including a model of the Museum's lightship Ambrose (LV-87).
Night at the Museums
Spend the evening visiting museums and historic sites in lower Manhattan, where New York's history and culture begin! On Tuesday, June 25 from 4-8pm, Bowne & Co., located at 209-211 Water Street, will highlight selected examples that show the breadth and brilliance of 19th-century letterpress printing, as well as demonstrate with equipment not regularly on public view.Night at the Museums is produced by the Downtown Cultural Associationand is part of the River to River Festival 2019, featuring free arts events from June 18 to 29, 2019 throughout Lower Manhattan.

Vineyard Theatre Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce two productions of the company’s upcoming 2019-2020 season. The season will kick off this fall with IS THIS A ROOM, conceived and directed by Tina Satter. The final production of the season in spring 2020 will be the world premiere of TUVALU OR, THE SADDEST SONG by Antoinette Nwandu, and directed by Danya Taymor. Both shows will be presented at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) with the winter 2020 production to be announced at a later date.

A true story, still unfolding. June 3, 2017. A 25-year-old former Air Force linguist named Reality Winner is surprised at her home by the FBI, interrogated, and then charged with leaking evidence of Russian interference in U.S elections. Reality remains in jail with a record-breaking sentence. The FBI transcript of her interrogation is the heart of IS THIS A ROOM, conceived as a play and directed by Obie Award-winner Tina Satter, in which an extraordinary human drama unfolds between the complex and witty Reality, and the agents who question her. As Reality’s autonomy shrinks before her eyes, a simmering real-life thriller emerges, asking what it is to have honor in this American moment, and how the personal can reverberate globally.

Los Angeles in the mid-nineties and twelve-year old Jackie is at a crossroads. She’s just been accepted to a private school in Brentwood, the affluent, white neighborhood that also happens to be ground zero for the O.J. Simpson murder trial. At home, the Lord is alive and well, the rent’s past due, and Momma’s boyfriend just came back to town. Sexuality and spirituality, race and class, love and violence collide as Jackie attempts to make sense of her life in relation to the women in her real and imaginary landscapes. With an astonishing mix of humor, tenderness and theatrical daring, this coming-of-age story explores the barriers that keep Jackie from finding her authentic self, and the cost of overcoming them.
