I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - The Things WIth the Feathers and Balls

We were given free tickets to The Things With the Feathers for free for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: The Thing With the Feathers

Where: The Barrow Group Theatre
             312 W. 36th St.
             New York, NY

Who: Ages 16 and up

When: Now through February 10, 2018

Mom's view: If you like shows that are timely and deal with serious issues, you will like The Thing With the Feathers. This show is about a young girl, Anna, who meets and develops a relationship with an older man on the internet. The fact that he turns out to be even older than he led her to believe is only the tip of the iceberg. The story manages to avoid cliches and keeps you guessing. Anna is not the stereotypical girl that you would think would be led astray by someone she meets online. Alexa Shae Nitzak and DeAnna Lenhart make a believeable and touching mother-daughter combo. The show is definitely not for young children due to the subject matter. However, if you want to see a show that will take you on a thrilling ride and not let go until the very end, this show is a good choice.

We were given free tickets to Balls for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.
What: Balls

Where: 59E59 Theatres
            59 E. 59 St.
            New York, NY

Who: Ages 13 and up

When: Now through February 25, 2018

Mom's view - Balls is the story of the Battle of the Sexes tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King. However, there is much more to it than that. It is a history lesson. It is  a story of changing times. At the center of the show is a shot for shot recreation of the historic match. However, that is not nearly as boring as it sounds.  The shows is incredibly entertainingly staged. From the moment, you walk into the theater, you feel like you are in a tennis stadium and you are back in the world of the 1970s. Donald Curren and Ellen Tamaki do a really good job and are completely believable in their roles as Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King respectively. There are eight other performers in the show as well some of whom play a variety of roles. This is not a show for children due to some of the subject matter. It is a very unique and engaging show.
