I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Giveaway: Win 9/11 Film Charlie Sheen Autographed Poster and Gift Pack!

Welcome to the Color Me Lucky Giveaway Hop hosted by MamatheFox.com

As there seems to be more and more tragedies around the world all the time both natural and manmade and we approach yet another anniversary of what is probably the darkest day in our history, we should all count our blessings and be grateful for the things that make us lucky. The anniversary of 9/11 especially makes me think. I remember sitting alone in my office that day, and my husband called me to tell me that a plane had just crashed into the World Trade Center. I had no idea at that moment how much the world was about to change. There is no other event that ever happened in my lifetime that changed the world so much and not for the better.

Even now almost 16 years after, it is hard to wrap my head around the fact that something as awful as 9/11 actually occurred. Creative artists have been trying to process it as well as through their art whether it be paintings, sculpture, plays, books, movies or whatever the medium they work in. Now, there is a new film called 9/11. It stars Charlie Sheen and it deals with a group of people trapped in an elevator on 9/11. It is based on  a play called Elevator. It is a really touching well-acted film that you won't want to miss. However, just be warned, you won't want to watch it alone, and you will want to bring tissues.

Another important fact about this film is that the film supports Tuesday's Children, the leading response and recovery organization supporting youth and families impacted by terrorism and traumatic loss relating to 9/11. The filmmakers have also joined Tuesday's Children to spread information about 9/11 and how to talk to your children about it. For more, see below:

9/11 the film will be in Theaters on September 8, 2017. Visit the film's web-site at
www.911movie.film. To win a movie poster autographed by Charlie Sheen and a movie gift pack which includes a “Hope” Pendant with necklace and a Guide to Talking To Your Children About 9/11 from Tuesday’s Children, enter below:

  1. I feel lucky and blessed for having my kids. They really make me want to strive to be the best person I can be. They give me the strength to fight against hate because I want them to grow up in a better world.

  2. I would love to see some of the heavy topics that the world is facing discussed. My oldest isn't really old enough for discussions yet. But once he gets there, what am I going to say about Nazis marching in our streets? Or climate change denial in the face of disasters like Harvey? How am I going to present topics like this without fostering hate in his heart? I'm hoping that I will find books that help gently explain what's happening.

  20. I was watching the news this morning and they said that 1 in 3 drivers don't obey the school zone laws. Actually that did not surprise me but it should've. I've watched parent's drop their kids off in the middle of a busy road which is dangerous, I've watched parents get out of their car to yell at our crossing guards. I think this is an issue that definitely needs more attention.
