I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Ruthless

We were given free tickets to Ruthless for free for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed are our own.

What: Ruthless!

Where: St. Lukes Theater
             308 W. 46th Street
             New York, New York

Who: Ages 10 and up

Our view: If you are looking for a bright sunny musical, this isn't it. If you are looking for something with bite, you will find that here. We were expecting a light little musical about stage mothers and their daughters. Instead we got a dark comedy about ambition and succeeding at any cost. The show is meant to be a spoof of musicals and movies, such as, Gypsy, All About Eve and The Bad Seed. In fact there is a character called Eve Allabout. The show is entertaining. The singing and acting are all good, and there is a lot of humor in the show although much of it is very dark. The music is enjoyable although not especially memorable except for Born to Entertain and the refrain "Hello, this is Tina's Mother" from the song of the same name. It is worth noting that Laura Bell Bundy, Natalie Portman, and Brittany Spears all got their starts in an earlier version of this show. If young Tori Murray, the star of this incarnation of the show, follows in their footsteps, you might want to be able to say you saw her here when she got her start. We wouldn't recommend the show for young children or anyone who gets easily upset. They might be bothered by some elements of the plot. Older children and those who are not easily upset might enjoy it, however. For more information or to order tickets go to http://www.ruthlessthemusical.com/.
And that's our view for more about Ruthless see tomorrow's Talking Topics post.
