I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Still More Theater Saturday - Three Women

We received complimentary tickets to Three Women for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed are our own.

What: Three Women

Where: Theater for a New City
             155 First Ave.
              New York, NY

When: This event occurred from April 16 through May 3, 2026

The musical Three Women isn't so much a linear musical with a plot as a very short song cycle. If you read the description, there is a whole story to the show, but you don't always get all of that, just bits and pieces through the songs. Although the characters were given names, as indicated in the playbill, it was not always easy to figure out who was who and the relationships between them within the context of the show.

The songs were generally pleasant, some more so than others. They were mostly on the light side. It is not possible to name any particularly likable songs as there was no song list in the playbill. However, anyone who appreciates country and western-type storytelling songs would probably enjoy them. There were, however, a few much darker songs, including one with a suicidal theme.

The quality of the singing voices varied. Some sounded much better than the others. In general, though, the female voices were much better than the male ones. The lead actor, who was also the composer and lyricist, had the least nice voice, but there seemed to be a problem with his microphone, which may have contributed to this.

The gist of the story was fun except for some questionable elements. A man's relationship with a girl who seemed much younger than himself was particularly disturbing. Although it is possible the actress just looked particularly young but was actually older than she looked, it was impossible to tell with the information given. For this reason, among others,  it would have been better if this were a story with dialogue, and you didn't have to work so hard to keep up with it.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for this week's Sunday Scoop.
