Love Story is a show that deals heavily with grief and death, and as such, may be triggering for some people. Although Maria has died, she is still trapped in the memory of those who love her. The whole show is like a metaphor for the grief process. It stops and starts, and doesn't always proceed linearly, much like a person working their way through the stages of grief.
Despite its subject matter, the show does not actually feel overwhelmingly dark. The tone is surprisingly light with only hints of sadness. Much of the show focuses on mundane things and not on Maria's death. Plus, there are humorous moments sprinkled throughout the show. It is never completely light and happy, however, because there is still a sadness at its center. At its heart, this is a show about learning to let go.
