I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Just Desserts: A Musical Bake-Off is an entertaining new musical centered on a  County Fair baking competition. The show has a surprising amount of heart. It thankfully never quite devolves into the clichéd cutthroat competition you might expect, especially if you watch a lot of reality television shows. Rather, it is permeated more by a warm found-family vibe than an air of hostility. This makes it both more enjoyable and more moving. It also makes what could easily be a bunch of annoying stock characters much more relatable and likable.

Although there aren't really any songs that will stick in your head, the score is nice enough. It does its job moving the story along and providing each character, and indeed each actor, their moment to shine. On the whole, the music is quite pleasant, but it just doesn't stand out. However,  despite this shortcoming,  if you are looking for a mostly happy and uplifting show that may even restore your faith in mankind a little, this one fits the bill.

And that's our view. For more information or to purchase tickets to Just Desserts: A Musical Bake-Off, visit www.amttheater.org/justdesserts
